Golf - Tuesday 3rd November 2015 - Melbourne Cup Day

Wow! What a huge day we had at Gosford Golf Club today!

Two Golf Events for Men and Women were a great success - even the light drizzle did not take away from the golf events that were played with great enthusiasm. The Ladies hit off the first nine holes in a 8.30 am shotgun start. The Men hit off the back nine holes in a simultaneous 8.30 am shotgun start thus bringing everyone back into the clubhouse at the same time. The ladies had their traditional Melbourne Cup luncheon in the Magnolia Room and the men sat back and relaxed in the Members Lounge conveniently in front of the TAB screen. There were a lot of screens set up in the Members Lounge and Sunset Room so that everyone could get a good view of the big race.

The clubhouse was packed with golfers and visitors staying for lunch and some traditional punting on the day that stops the nation.  Let us hope we can make it bigger and better next year. Congratulations to all of the winners and the organisers of the day.

We had two Golf Events today for the first time to celebrate Melbourne Cup Day.
Tuesday is traditionally Ladies Day but this year it was decided to introduce a competition for the Men as well as the Ladies.  It has proved to be a very successful day that is likely to be repeated again next year. We now have the TAB so members could enjoy a nice reasonably priced lunch as cheap as $9.90 as well as a day of punting. There were also a number of sweeps available in addition to the free sweep ticket each player received.

The Ladies Golf Event of the day was a Las Vegas Ambrose.

We had 58 starters with visitors from Mangrove Mountain, Shelly Beach and Wyong
