Golf - Sunday 9th February 2014

We had a very hot day for golf but fortunately there was some breeze to keep the temperature down. Our playing partners were Doug and Robin Incoll and we had a lovely day on the village green with some good highlights - the best being the 11th where Doug got a 4 pointer and I got a gobbler putt in.

The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford plus 2 Ball Team mixed Men and Ladies.

We had 66 starters with 7 visitors from Shelly Beach, Pacific Dunes, Terrigal and Tamworth.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Mary Bromwich played with three gentlemen who were very supportive - Mary had no wipes and some good pars; Warren Gray had a nice 3/4 birdie at the 16th; Brent Frewin had three birdies on the back 9; Brent Frewin and John Hazzard had 3 pointers for 8 holes in a row; Col Materson had birdies at the 2nd and the 10th; Neville Walker was an improved player; Kevin O'Brien played a nice steady game for his 39 points and accidentally left the flag out after finishing at the 6th; Joyce Bosley had a par on the 8th; Elly Van Den Burg had a par on the 12th; Dick Bosley beat Jan Van Den Burg on a countback; Doug Incoll had 4/4 on the 11th; Robin Incoll played the 13th very well scoring a good 3 pointer; Peter Martin played steady golf; my highlight was getting a gobbler at the 11th and the girls taking the boys to the 18th in a battle for the Keno ticket which ended square.

RESULTS OF THE A GRADE PENNANTS PLAYED AT GOSFORD TODAY:

GOSFORD DEFEATED MORISSET 4 to 31/2.

NEXT WEEK GOSFORD HAS A BYE AND NO DOUBT CAPTAIN ZORRO WILL HAVE THE TEAM WELL PRACTICED AND READY FOR BATTLE THE FOLLOWING WEEK.

RUGBY LEAGUE FANS:  Be on the look out for Alex Johnston playing for Souths this week. Alex is the grandson of John and Julie Hazzard. Alex was chosen in the A Grade side this week and trains regularly with South Sydney and is an upcoming star.
