Golf - Sunday 5th January 2014

We had a great day for golf - some very brief early showers and then the rest was good.

Our playing partners were Duncan & Rosalie Dyer and we had a good day on the village green.  Peter scored a birdie which was the highlight of our day and the boys thought they had beaten us convincingly for the Keno Ticket but it was only by one lucky hole.

The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford Event for Men and Ladies.

We had 89 starters with 6 visitors from Ballina, Capital, Southern and Wyalong.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  Peter Martin had a birdie at the 2nd; Rosalie Dyer scored a lovely 3 pointer at the 15th; Duncan Dyer's highlight was beating the girls for the Keno Ticket, Rhonda Robertson's highlight was playing to her handicap on her birthday (today)' George Foster & Wally Robertson beat the girls for the Keno ticket which won $120 (Hooray for the girls!), Wal Robertson had 4/4 at the 6th; Tania Burt enjoyed her coffee after golf, Joyce Bosley's highlight was keeping Tania Burt under control on the course, Anne Forrester and Lyn Cruickshanks both parred the 1st for 3 pointers with the boys having the benefit of riding in the carts, both Clyde and Brent had birdies on the 18th; Arthur Haviland hit a duck (of the feathered kind) on the 5th and still scored 5/1, Wendy Stapleton parred the 5th with the help of her Ping 5 wood, Fay Bailey had 5 pars including the 1st and the 10th and had 3 pars in a row and narrowly missing the 4th, Ian Hartley had two 4 pointers, Kevin O'Brien almost lost his clubs in the water on the 7th - forgetting to put on his brake - fortunately only lost 10 tees and 4 golf balls, Wally Johnston had a 3 pointer at the 18th, Robyn Johnston played to her handicap having her first game in 6 months, Robin Incoll lost her keys which had fallen unnoticed to the bottom of her golf clubs - so the entire golf bag had to be cleared to find the keys, Walter Loschi had birdies at the 2nd and the 5th, Craig Ward won the skins in his match - scoring 41 points and loving it, Kathy Small narrowly missed a par on the 18th, Grahame Muller played to his handicap. Georgina Lamb was an improved player, John Slight finished with a different ball than he started with, Dick Bosley had 5/4 on the 2nd and had 22 points the first 9, my highlight was scoring 3 pointers at the 8th and the 16th and finishing with the same ball I started with.

We welcomed a new Member  today - Terry Connor who had previously played at Gosford with the Sailing Club Social Club.
