Golf - Tuesday 14th June 2011

The weather forecast was correct and we have had more rain overnight and during the day with seemingly more to come.  The course is OPEN but very wet.  The bunkers are all out of play, no carts are allowed and there is Tee Up throughout the fairways.

The Golf Event of the day was to have been a Monthly Medal Round.  This was postponed to a later date to be advised, due to the state of the course.  A Single Stableford was to have been played however there were not enough starters to enable a competition to go ahead. (Not surprising).

The F-Troopers were out between showers attempting to plant some new plants in the Magnolia Garden.
Dawn Cook (one of our Members and prize winning gardener) was good enough to give us some advice regarding some permanent type of plants to place in the Magnolia garden.  Dawn purchased the plants on our behalf, donated nine of the new plants, assisted us to plant, fertilize and mulch the garden in the middle of all the showers this morning.  Di Beechey and Anne Burgess were available to lend a hand as there was no golf competition so between us all we managed to get it completed without getting too wet.

A BIG THANK YOU to Dawn, Anne & Di for lending a hand in difficult circumstances and a special thanks to Dawn for her advice and contribution for the day.

The plants Dawn chose for us are some very pretty groundcovers "Exhibition Border Red Altenanther" and a background plant "Silver Bush Convolvulus Cneorum" so I am looking forward to them maturing into a lovely border for our garden.  I do need buy about another $100 worth of more plants to fill the gaps in the garden.  Any Member interested in donating towards this garden would be very much appreciated by F-Troop and the other Members

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!.
