Golf - Sunday 31st October 2010 - Mixed Foursomes Championships

We were so lucky with the weather today. The threatening showers did not arrive until after golf & we had a beautiful day of sunshine with a little breeze to keep it pleasant for golf.
It was the day of the Mixed Foursomes Championships or as many of our Members refer to it as the "Fearsomes Championships". Our playing partners were Wal & Rhonda Roberston, Warren Gray and Mary Bromwich & we had a lovely day with great company - pity about the golf! It was not all bad and we did have some highlights out there so a good day was had by all.
The Event of the day was the Mixed Foursomes Championships 2010 and we had 90 starters.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Warren Gray & Mary Bromwich had a birdie on the 8th after a great drive by Warren close to the pin; Rhonda & Wally Roberston had a good par on the 15th and another on the 1st (second time around); Lorraine Bignall & Kevin O'Brien had a birdie on the 10th; Peter Davidson had a great drive at the 8th (nearly a hole in one); Fay & Wally Bailey had a birdie on the 14th; Ron Puiatti had a fantastic drive on the 8th just missing a hole in one; Phil Wilson chipped in on the 8th for a par; Denise Bentlin did some nice putting; Yvonne & Des Wilson had a par on the 5th (second time around); Bob & Vicki Morris had a birdie on the 5th; Trevor Andrews & Glennis English had four pars & Trevor hit a great shot out of the edge of the water at the 3rd; Richard Casey hit his drive off the 2nd tee & landed on the 9th tee which meant Leonie was hitting her shot from in front of the metal sign at the 9th tee. Leonie's ball hit the metal sign with force which made a very resounding bell noise just as Peter Davidson was putting at the 3rd green. This 9th tee is now to be referred to as the "Bell" tee - thanks to Leonie; John & Julie Hazzard had three pars; Gwen & Bruce White played a steady round; our highlight was having a one putt on the 18th and then following up with another three holes in a row with no "three putts".
Other news:
Some sad news received today was the passing of Sue Suters. Sue sadly lost her battle with cancer & will be remembered as a lovely lady, very much missed by us all. I do not know any details of the funeral arrangements at this time.
On a happier note: David & Kath Small became grandparents for the first time this week - welcoming a grandson. More details and photo to follow. Congratulations David & Kath!
