Results of the GCC Garden Competition 2009- Thursday 1st October 2009

I am so excited with the results of the Gosford City Garden Competition 2009 I am beside myself.

For the 2009 Competition we have won:

"The Best Commercial Garden over 1,000 square metres" (The whole Golf Course)

(including $100 voucher from Coastal Rural Traders)

And twice Finalists in "The Best Theme or Specialty Commercial Garden" for:

"The Wedding Garden"

and

"The BBQ Garden"

It is a GREAT result and a full credit to our F-TROOPERS who put so much effort into the beautification of our Golf Course.

Over the three years that we have been entering our gardens in the Gosford City Council Garden Competition we have won:

2007: "Best Commercial Garden under 1,000 square metres. (Ladies Garden)

2008: Finalists in:

Best Commercial Garden over 1,000 square metres (Whole of Golf Couse)

Best Commecial Theme or Specialty Garden (Wedding Garden)

(Photos of 2008 finalist certificates attached)

This is a HUGE result an it will take some effort to top it as the next step is the Best "Champion" garden over 1,000 square metres which is a big challenge.

Can we do it? Come and help F-Troop and we can see if we can give it a shake!!!!!

Congratulations to everyone involved with our F- Troop, be it the ones who rake, pick up sticks, water, weed, feed, trim, remove trees, cut up timber, rough cut, plant, drive the tractor utes or man the chain saws, repair paths & improve drainage. Every little thing helps!

My special congratulations to members who undertake the adoption of a garden which means they take full responsibility for the maintenance of that particular patch eg: our finalist "BBQ garden" (Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Judy Hughes) and "The Wedding Garden" (Clyde and Lyn Cruickshanks) and not to be overlooked "the Bush toilet area" (Des & Yvonne Wilson). "the 15th Bird of Paradise" garden (Des & Yvonne Wilson), the garden at the "5th green" (Mary Bromwich) , the garden at the back of the 14th (Mary Bromwich) , the "Hydrangea garden" at the men's 3rd tee(Des & Yvonne Wilson) , the miniature "Oleander" garden at the back of the 5th tee (Des & Yvonne Wilson) , the "12th green" garden & Hedge" (Di Beechey) , the 17th dogleg" garden (Mary Bromwich & Di Beechey) , back of the "8th tee" garden (Mary Bromwich, the "18th tee" garden (Bev Way) , the "Camelia walk & bouganvillias" garden at the back of the 10th green " Anne Burgess and Judy Hughes", the 2nd tee gardens (Enone Sammons, Rosalie Dyer and Yvonne Wilson & Jan Martin), the "front street" gardens (Leonie & Richard Casey), the back of 10th tee gardens (Roslie Dyer and June Bowen) , the Magnolia gardens (Di Beechey, Yvonne Wilson, Jan Martin), "Front Entrance" gardens (Jan Martin), the "Putting green gardens" (Jan Martin), "Behind the putting green gardens" (Robin & Doug Incoll), Tibouchinas & crepe myrtles & various other feature trees at the side of the 2nd fairway (Jan Martin & Martin Gallagher), "Succulent garden" at the 2nd green (Di Beechey); new "succulent garden" at the ladies 3rd tee (Jan Martin), the "Ladies" garden at the 13th (Jan Martin), Martin Gallagher for maintenance and care of the trees around the course. I am sure I have overlooked someone and if I have, I do appologise. I am just a little excited about the results of the competition & want to thank everyone who has contributed to this achievement. My special thanks to Di Beechey, Des & Yvonne Wilson who chip in with whatever work needs doing around the place without needing to be motivated by me. Thanks for your efforts!

My congratulations also to Julie Hazzard who is doing a top job of looking after the indoor plants inside the club. Julie repotted some of the plants on the outside verandah this week so that they will have a chance of surviving this hot summer - THANKS JULIE!

I would also like to acknowledge all of the Members who have donated plants for the gardens in lieu of participating in F-Troop. These contributions are invaluable & help so much in the rejuvination of the gardens. We have too many donars to acknowledge here but there is a list of acknowledgements advertised on our "F-Troop" Notice board which is on the outside wall of the "Spike Bar".

There are a lot of people who contribute to our vision of having Gosford Golf Club the most beautiful Golf Course on the Central Coast. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributes their time in some way.

I would love to have some more "helpers" out there even if it is only in a small way like "watering" or keeping one "path" clean. Collectively we can make a difference, so do not be shy.

We have a lot of members out there - multiply by a couple of hours here and there can make a huge contribution collectively.
WE CAN NOW PROUDLY BOAST THAT GOSFORD GOLF COURSE HAS "AWARD WINNING GARDENS"

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
