Golf - Sunday 11th October 2009

The weather today put off a lot of our mixed team golfers having a steady lot of drizzle during the morning with it fining up to hot and sunny for the last few holes of the day so that we at least finished in a dry state. Our playing partners were Michael & Pauline Norman who do not let a little rain interfere with a nice game of golf. Michael played some great shots, scoring a lovely birdie at the 10th and Pauline put in a sensational hole at the 17th so we did have some highlights among the showers.
The event of the day was a 2 Ball Team + Single Stableford Mixed Men and Women and we had 55 starters.
RESULTS:
2 BALL TEAM MEN:
WINNERS: Jack Bree and Peter Hendry - 41 points on a countback

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Alan Weston scored 40 points and parred the 18th with the help of a great power drive to the dog leg corner; Michael Norman birdied the 10th for 4/5 and had 4/4 on the 1st; Pauline Norman had a par 4/4 on the 17th; Vicki Morris chipped in on the 8th for a birdie 4 pointer; Carmen Fitzgerald had 41 points at an away game recently and lost 3 strokes off her handicap (welcome to B grade Carmen!) and today had two four pointers at the 3rd and the 8th; Spencer Walklate hit a sandy shot today - right into the sand box at the 8th and then on the 9th he hit a shot out of the bunker that landed at the 10th tee; my highlight was finishing dry at the end of the match after having the last few holes in nice sunshine.
