Today was our very popular 'PRESIDENT VS CAPTAIN DAY' which is always well supported by the members. The 12.30 shotgun start proved to be a successful arrangement with all members arriving back at the clubhouse at the same time for presentation and many stayed on for dinner. It was noisy but very congenial and everyone seemed to have a very enjoyable day and certainly the fine weather contributed.
We had 119 starters with 7 visitors from Everglades, Kempsey, Morisset and Wyong.
RESULTS: PRESIDENT VS CAPTAIN:
This year the Captain's side were the "WINNERS" (Red shirts) with 14 1/2 points and the "President's side (Blue shirts) were valiant runner-ups with 12 1/2 points.
RESULTS 2- BALL EVENT :
2 BALL TEAM - MENS:
WINNERS: Warren Gray and John Hazzard - 52 points
RUNNER UP: Rob Brann and Spencer Walklate - 49 points on a countback
2 BALL TEAM - MIXED:
WINNERS: John Hazzard and Julie Hazzard - 52 points
RUNNER UP: Andrew Potter and Helen Potter - 49 points on a countback
2 BALL TEAM - LADIES:
WINNERS: Vicki Foster and Lyn Douglas - 51 points
RUNNER UP: Rosemary Cohen and Di Thomlinson - 49 points on a countback

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Vicki Foster had 43 points including a 5/3 chip in on the 5th, 4/4 on the 7th and no wipes; Lyn Douglas had 38 points with three 3 pointers and one wipe; Spencer Walklate had 44 points with no wipes and 2 one pointers, birdie on the 7th with a 60 yard chip in; Yvonne Wilson had a chip in on the 5th for a birdie; Peter Martin had a birdie on the 4th; Des Wilson had a birdie on the 16th; Steve Thomlinson's highlight was catching Anne Stimpson as she fell in the bunker,and had a birdie on the 1st; Di Thomlinson had 2 birdies; Lynn Puiatti had a great drive onto the 5th green; David Small had a birdie on the 17th, another highlight was discovering that he had matching blue shirt and blue undies the same as Peter Martin; Terry Bowditch chipped in for a birdie on the 9th, Mary Beard got 11 points on 3 consecutive holes 18th, 1st and 2nd; June Hayes had 41 points; Enone Sammons had 3/4 on the 5th and a FRLT (failed to reach the ladies tee) on the 6th; Rhonda Robertson had a steady game; Graham Brown rescued some turtles at the 18th dam & returned them to water; Peter Davidson had 3 birdies and admitted that he and Ron Beechey lost a keno ticket to the girls; Chris Drakeford birdied the 15th and parred the 11th and the 16th; Andrew Potter had 42 points including 5 pars; Helen Potter had 8 pars and a birdie; Philly Dalton's highlight was playing at Gosford; Helen Broadbent had a birdie at the 15th and a par at the 17th - two 4 pointers; John & Julie Hazzard had 5 four pointer holes; Lyn Cruiickshanks had 4/4 on the 16th and five 3 pointers; Nigel Asken had a birdie; Sheena Asken had a birdie on the 2nd; Kerry Cubis had birdies on the 2nd and the 18th; Clyde Cruickshanks had birdies on the 10th and the 1st; Doris Morris had a nearest the pin on the 8th and as a team Keith and Doris scored 49 points (WOW!- not bad for 80 and then some yearolds!); Bob Brann had a birdie 3/3 on the 15th; Garry Wilkinson was 4 down with 4 holes to play and came in to win; Arthur Havidland had 37 points with 3 wipes and a one pointer; my highlight was a 4/4 par on the 13th and winning a ball.
Other highlights of the day - It was Lyn Cruickshanks birthday- Happy Birthday Lyn!; Terry Bowditch and Mary Beard have announced their engagement - Congratulations Terry and Mary!
