F-Troop work - Friday 3rd October 2008

It was a very hot day but that did not stop the F-Troopers at work. Des & Yvonne Wilson helped me to split the final pots of orchids & place them in gardens at the 14th tee bush toilets.
We have now found a home for all the donated orchids and I thank everyone who has contributed to this project.
Peter got busy at Bev Way's garden at the 18th by raising the watering system so that it can be repaired & sprinklers placed in the right positions. This is the first garden on the course that has it's own easy-use watering system that in connected to the new fairway watering system. Thanks to David, our greenkeeper for connecting the garden to the system. You may have noticed that this garden has improved leaps and bounds since the rabbit proof fence was put in place and we have been able to water in the hot weather. The rabbit proof fence is very basic & was put up as a matter of necessity. A more attractive type of fence would be desirable and I am open to suggestions & donors for this project.
Martin Gallagher was doing his roster on the rough cutter this morning.
Images attached: Martin on the rough cutter at the 18th; Bev Way's garden - complete with new orchid placements; Des & Yvonne at work on the new orchid gardens at the 14th; various photos of the new orchid gardens.
My thanks to the F-Troopers who give their time so generously.
