Golf - Sunday 6th July 2014






There was a it of a chill on the breeze today but overall a lovely day for golf.  Our playing partners today were Kevin O'Brien & Lorraine Bignall and we did have some good highlights on the beautiful village green the best of which was Lorraine's 5/4 at the 10th.

The Golf Event of the day was a 2 Ball Aggregate + Singles Mixed, Men & Ladies.

We had 73 starters with 1 visitor from Howlong.

MEN'S:  John Slight & Neill Orr - 79 points

MIXED:  Neil Orr and Georgina Lamb - 84 points

WOMEN:  Helen Potter & Lyn Bates - 66 points

MEN'S SINGLES RESULTS:

WINNER:  Neil Orr - 43 points

RUNNER UP:  Spencer Walklate - 40 points

WOMEN'S SINGLES RESULTS:

WINNER:  Georgina Lamb - 41 points

RUNNER UP:  Alice Diamond - 34 points on a countback

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  Sandra Coyle, Terry Coyle, Graham Brown & Rae Brown stayed calm all day; Rhonda Robertson & Alice Diamond beat the boys for the Keno Ticket; Neil Orr hit a gobbler 60 foot shot into the hole on the 7th and a gobbler sand shot out of the left bunker at the17th into the hole giving him a lovely 43 points for the day; Georgina Lamb played her best golf of the last 15 years getting a 4 pointer and playing extremely well down the fairways; Ron Puiati had birdies at the 7th, 8th and the 18th; Vicki Foster hit a magnificent drive on the 15th to the 100 metre mark; George Foster & Ron Puiatti beat the girls for the Keno Ticket; Mary Bromwich had a gobbler at the 3rd; Mark White had an Eagle 2/4 at the 15th; Brent Frewin had a birdie out of the bunker at the 4th; Spencer Walklate had a birdie out of the sand at the 15th; Warren Gay had a birdie at the 4th; Rick & Therese Mulhall played Therese's first competition game today & we are looking forward to seeing more of these new members in our competitions; Lorraine Bignall had 5/4 on the 10th & outdrove the boys on the 17th; Kevin O'Brien hit some great drives today the best of which was the first hole which was a mere chip shot off the green; Peter Martin's drive on the 18th was out in the trees, followed by a great shot out to a position to be up on the green area for three - a good result; Jan Martin outdrove the boys on the 2nd hole; Lorraine Bignall & Jan Martin beat the boys for the Keno Ticket.
