F-Troop - Monday 5th November 2012

We had a huge day at F-Troop today getting several big projects done with the help of the Greens Staff.

We had Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Warren Gray, Martin Gallagher, Peter Martin, Rob Benson, Trevor Harrison, Don Nicholls,  Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin who all put in a good morning's work.

The first project on the move was to transfer one of the water tanks from behind the clubhouse to the new Cart Shed where it will be used for water supply to enable the wash down of the carts.  Don Nicholls and Trevor Harrison disconnected and re-connected the plumbing for the tank & the boys collectively moved the tank.

The second project was a big one - and that was to move the decorative balls onto the 10th tee.  Rob Benson prepared the bases for the securing of the balls.  F-Troopers with the help of the greens staff and the Bobcat put the balls in place and welded them securely to the bases.  We still have some final touches to add  to complete the job - but the hard part is done. Our thanks and appreciation to Rob Benson for the hard yards he put into the planning of this project.

In between the projects the boys found time to pick up rubbish from around the course and garden rubbish from behind the practice nets.

Di Beechey and Anne Burgess cleaned up the BBQ area, placed new mulch on all of the gardens in the BBQ area, watered & weeded the gardens at the front of the clubhouse among other things.

My tasks today were to spray the Port Wine Camellias at the 18th tee; remove and replace the plants from where the water tank was removed; trim the shrubs in the wedding garden and clean out the garden beds that were choked with leaves and sticks.

It was Peter's 70th Birthday today so morning tea of Chelsea Buns complete with a birthday candle was appropriate.  Thanks Chef John!

The course was very busy today - being Vets Day which restricted our use of the course so it was handy to have the two big projects near the clubhouse that did not require us to go out on the course.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

A note regarding Naggers Cup Day.  The time sheet is now on the computer and there are only a few places left as of this afternoon.
