Gosford Golfers at the Mornington Peninsula, Vic. Sunday 11th April 2010

Gosford Golfer's all arrived safely at Rosebud on the Mornington Peninsula, Vic. to enjoy the local golf courses.

Day one was a nice day settling in to our very comfortable accommodation cottages, buying our supplies and had dinner at the Rosebud Hotel and it was a good start.

Overnight there was a lot of heavy rain & some high winds. Fortunately the rain cleared but the wind stayed.

Sunday 11th April 2010 our scheduled golfers were Peter Martin, Col Matterson & Bob Morris, followed by Mark Stimpson, Ray Stapleton & Bruce White, followed up by Wendy Stapleton, Vicki Morris & Jan Martin. Wendy Stapleton is our Captain & Event organiser & has done a sterling effort in getting us organised into teams to play at Moonah Links. We were booked in to play on the "Legends"course but on arrival found that had been changed to "The Open"course as a large group of social players were playing on the Legends course.

The wind was horrendous & nearly blew us off our feet - reminiscent of Barnbougal without the sand. I have never worn so many layers of clothes to keep out the freezing cold winds

RUNNER UP: Wendy Stapleton, Vicki Morris & Jan Martin - 37 points

3RD: Peter Martin, Col Matterson & Bob Morris - 36 points

SINGLES RESULTS:

MEN: Col Matterson - 27 points

LADIES: Wendy Stapleton - 25 points

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY : Wendy saved her best for last an scored a fantastic eagle on the 18th; Mark Stimpson had 17 points at the turn & birdied the 2nd par 5; Vicki Morris had a great back 9 with some good 3 pointers; Ray Stapleton had two four pointers at the 3 pars; my highlights were 14 points at the turn & some good 3 pointers.
