Golf - Tuesday 6th April 2010

We had a great day today at golf having a friendly 2 Ball Team Event thrown in with the Single Stableford was good. We did not have any rain & the cloud cover kept the day comfortable.
My Playing partners today were Annette Cross, Jan Walker and Val Iseppi & we had plenty of highlights with 3 and 4 pointers throughout the day & some low lights with the putting. We brought in one trophy winner with Annette getting a nice 38 points to be runner up.
The Event of the day was a Single Stableford + 2 Ball Team.
We had 90 starters with one visitor - Dorothy Rogerson from Vancouver in Canada (Sister of Allison Guthrie).

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Annette Cross had 4 pointers at the 15th & 16th, came in runner up with a nice 38 points and won a prize in the 100 club; Rosemary Cohen walked 18 holes; Margaret Nichols had a gobbler at the 18th for 5/4; Lyn Wilson parred the 5th; Doris Morris did some nice putting and had a 4 pointer on the 14th; Wendy Stapleton had birdies on the 8th and the 16th; Anne Forrester had a birdie on the 11th; Lynn Puiatti had a great gobbler shot at the 6th; Lyn Cruickshanks had a birdie on the 8th with a great pin high drive; Lea Southon had a gobbler on the 9th; my highlight was a birdie gobbler at the 5th and 4/3 on the 7th; Bev Adams reported that Maggie Minjoy was hitting out of such long grass at the 11th they could hardly see her from the waist down & on the 7th Maggie hit a shank shot that flew past Bev's nose - missing by a whisker (not that Bev would exaggerate - but I never let the truth get in the way of a good story).
NEW HANDICAPPING SYSTEM
The new handicapping system will be in place on the 9th April 2010. Your new handicap will be automatically calculated for you by Golf Link and Maggie will have a print out done for you to refer to for next week's golf (ie Tuesday's stroke event). It will not matter if you change divisions with the new handicapping in place as all adjustments will be done after the finish of the match. You will still play in the same time slots as you have been allocated to this week.
For the rest of this week (including this Thursday) there will be no handicapping to enable a smooth transition to the new handicapping system. Thursday's par match will now be played as a team event rather than a singles as there will be no handicapping in place that day.
You will be able to log into Golf Link this Saturday to view your new handicap. If you do not have a computer accessible to you Maggie will have a printout done for next week for you to review.
