Golf - Sunday 3rd January 2010

Prior to leaving for golf this morning I checked the 'Elders' local weather report which did say 23 degrees and showers/sunshine. Then I backed that up with a review of the weather radar loop which did not show any signs of local rain. Convinced that the weather was going to fine up quickly we committed to a game of golf in drizzling rain which was pretty much ongoing all day with some brief reliefs followed by heavier rain just to make sure that we stayed wet. As I have well advertised before - I am not a happy wet weather golfer & would have stopped half way except that our playing partners Doug & Robin Incoll were having a good round thus far & it seemed very uncharitable to stop at that time. We did have a good day in spite of the rain & had a lot of fun beating the boys for a keno ticket on the 17th hole which I squared with Doug's 3 pointer to prevent the boys from winning the hole ( my highlight of the day). Robin won a ball which put us in the winners circle.

The Event of the day was a Medley 2 Ball Team + Single Stableford for Men and Ladies.

We had 72 starters with 8 visitors from Kurri, Riverside Oaks, South West Rocks, Tuggerah Lakes and Tura Beach.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Suzanne Waugh had three 3 pointers in a row; Wally Loschi chipped in on the 9th for a 4/3; Robin Incoll had a good 3 pointer on the 12th and a great firm positive putt straight into the hole at the 4th; Doug Incoll had a 4/3 on the 16th and followed that up with 5/3 on the 17th; my highlight of the day was to get 5/3 on the 17th to square the boys so they had to buy the keno ticket.
