Looking through the 11th Green towards the 18th fairway
where the big tree fell with a loud crash

The tree on the 18th broken off half way
with the branches lying to the left hand side of the fairway

Looking down the 18th fairway which will now
substantially change how our good golfers will play this hole

A close up of the tree with much
pick up to be done tomorrow

We had some drama on the Golf Course today when during the afternoon the wind picked up to almost gale force bringing down even more branches but more dramatically the tree on the left hand side of the 18th fairway as you approach the clubhouse (the tree that prevents a lot of A graders from making their second shots to the green) came crashing down splitting at the halfway height of the tree.  We were fortunate that the tree fell to the outside of the course and not the middle where we did have some players not too far away (some of them junior members).  This happened without any warning and the noise of the tree coming down echoed around the close fairways.  We were on the 12th tee and heard the noise.  For the next three holes golf was very uncomfortable having to hold onto our hats and buggies.  Then everything settled down and we finished the last couple of hole with no further incidents.

Our playing partners today were David & Sally Hopkins who were lovely company.  We had some very good highlights the best of which was Sally's birdie on the 15th and our three lots of 3 pointers on the 15th.

The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford + Team 1 x 2 x 3.

We had 75 starters 2 visitors from Terrigal.
