F-Troop - Monday 27th April 2009

After a very uncomfortable windy Sunday we were lucky to get some starters for F-Troop this morning. We had fourteen hardy souls turn up for duty & they worked hard to clear the fallen branches after the wind, rough cutting, raking untidy areas and working on the gardens.
I buried myself on the new garden area today and only saw those that put in an appearance there. If I have missed anyone - I do appologise.
Arthur Verlander did a shift on the rough cutter; Duncan Dyer, Warren Gray, Spencer Walklate, and Geoff Bridges were on timber pickup; Anne Burgess & Judy Hughes did some gardening work at the back of the 10th green; Jan Walker cleaned up at the course entry & the putting green; Yvonne Wilson did some gardening on the 14th; Clyde Cruickshanks, Ron Dekker and Peter Martin worked on the new garden; Di Beechey helped around the new garden.
We made some good inroads at the new garden with all the gravel now in place on the path & seating area. The seating area is complete bar the garden seats. Some of the bark is in place and most of the garden soil has been spread with manure & well watered in. The camelias have been planted and also the ground cover plants underneath the Tibouchina tree.
We still have to set the rocks into place & plan out the garden plants in the available garden space after everything else is in place.
Many thanks to Bert Brink for the trailer load of manure for the garden.
Keep watching this area - it will get better every week.
Work well done F-Troopers! YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
