Golf - Sunday 25th July 2010- Week 1 Mixed Team Series

Today was week 1 of our very popular Mixed Team Series Event which is sponsored by "SCHWEPPES" and is keenly contested by our Members. The course is in fantastic condition & the weather held fast for us with sunshine & blue skies up to the very late afternoon when our late starters were caught with a few light showers.

Our playing partners for the series are Mark & Anne Stimpson & we wore distinctive bright red team shirts to put off our opposition.

We had a fabulous day playing with our opposition Clyde & Lyn Cruickshanks who are always good company. We had many highlights including a birdie from Clyde on the 18th, but Lyn gave us most of our highlights playing an incredible front 9, scoring five 3 pointers in a row first up, turning with 24 points & to finish with a great score of 40 points.

The Event of the day was a Single Stableford and was the 26th Annual Mixed Team Series which has great prizes and is sponsored by "SCHWEPPES". (Best three scores)

We had 136 starters with 6 visitors from Byron Bay, Northbridge & Wyong.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Clyde Cruickshanks had a birdie on the 18th; Lyn Cruickshanks had nine 3 pointers including great putting & gobblers at the 11th and the 13th for her well earned 40 points; Joyce Bosely had a 4 pointer at the 5th; Graeme Kingsmall played a nice steady game for his 38 points; Julie Hazzard had three 3 pointers and two 2 pointers on the front 9; Elizabeth MacNamara had 3/4 on the 8th; Richard & Leonie Casey both had gobbler shots on the 4th - Leonie 4/4 and Richard 4/3; Lynn Puiatti had pars on the 5th & the 11th and had no wipes; Vicki Foster had pars on the 15th & 16th; Rosalie Dyer had seven 3 pointers and one 4 pointer in her 39 points; Judy Ruitenberg played steady for her 38 points; Fay Bailey had 4/4 on the 13th; Wendy Stapleton had a birdie on the 15th; Ray Stapleton had a birdie on the 12th; Sheena Asken had 4/4 on the 1st; Peter Davidson increased his scores on holes one to four by one point each hole; Warren Gray had five 3 pointers in a row; my highlight was 4/4 on the 17th and winning nearest the pin on the 5th.
