Golf - Friday 27th February 2026

There was over 20 mls of rain today plus some overnight which will give the course a good soaking.

There was no Golf Competition today as the rain was constant.

Nelson Bay Reports - Day 3

On Thursday, the dribblers played at Nelson Bay, delivering a truly spectacular scorecard.

Four players at 40 points, Bobby Clark being the ultimate winner with Paul Smith and Dave Sillick second and third on a countback. Missing on a podium place was Chris Moffatt.

With only four players with scores in the twenties, the Bolter prize was hotly contested. The dubious honour went to Paul Buffey with Dean McCarthy the hero of Newcastle in second last.

Today is Maitland where the winner of the John Bullivant trophy and the Bolter award for last will be decided.

On a side note, on Wednesday, the Dribblers divided into two groups. The more adventurous players took the ferry to Hawks Nest to compete at the picturesque golf course. It was a mixed result with most finding the going harder than expected. Tony Callaghan was the winner in the group. The other Dribblers went punting with little to show for.

My thanks to Paul Scholberg for this report.

Nelson Bay Reports - Day 2 - Horizons

Horizons Golf Course was the course for the day, with all Dribblers giving it their all.

While some found great success, others were left pondering their future in golf.

The surprise victor was Paul Scholberg with 36 points, closely followed by Chris Moffatt with 35 points and Bobby Clarke securing third place with 33 points after a countback.

Bringing up the rear were Bob Thomas and Paul Buffey, though their scores remain classified under National Secrets Act.

Today, half of our group is heading to Hawks Nest, while the other half will be trying their luck with the ponies.

We will be back at Nelson Bay Golf Club on Thursday.

My thanks to Paul Scholberg for this report.
