F-TROOP - GARDEN WORKING BEE - HOLE 2B - Wednesday 20th May 2026

F-Troop Garden volunteers today working on Hole 2B Tee

Plants from the 18th tee fenced gardens re-purposed to the 2B tee that previously had zero gardens

We unfortunately are going to loose some mature trees and camellias along “Camellia Way” 17th hole to the 18th tee-

The council requires this space to lay new sewerage pipes which will need to run through this area.

We did manage to save a couple of the smaller Camellias but the others are now mature and difficult to move. These Camellias were planted 20 years ago

My thanks to Lyn Bates, Leeanne Binns, Carolyn Buttsworth and Bev Way who volunteered their time today to create a new garden and re-purpose the plants from the 18th garden.  It is still work-in-progress but should look good when it is finished - and the good news is it was zero cost to the club.

F-Trooper Lyn Bates removing the last of the plants and stones from the 18th

18th Garden now devoid of all fences and garden plants

Garden fencing removed

Plants being transferred to 2B

Camellias to be removed by council works - Camellia Way from the 17th to the 18th

Plants at 2B Tee - waiting for a new garden design

All of these trees will be removed by council works

We had a huge day today at F-Troop - light sprinkling rain was not enough to stop us from working on our projects

On hand we had Sam Knox, Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Kevin O’Brien, Ray Cheal, Rob Benson, John Hollebon, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, Frank Potter, Lyn Bates and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today were firewood preparation; removal of the garden fences at the 18th Tee; removal and transfer of all the garden plants at the 18th tee due to council works needing to use that area to run sewerage pipes through (unfortunately we will be losing a lot of trees and camellia bushes) ; hedge maintenance; tidy up of garden at the 2nd tee; repairs to our fairway at the 18th; delivery of firewood; pick up of garden rubbish around the course; planting in of some of the plants from the 18th.

We managed to find a dry place to enjoy of morning tea of fresh sandwiches,

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
