We had 12 volunteers turn up this morning after overnight showers.  The course was so wet we could not take any heavy vehicles or carts of any kind onto the very sodden course. The programmed renovations have been put on hold because of the conditions.

The council have commenced removal of trees along Racecourse Road in preparation for the new cycle path. Plants removed from this area have found happier homes.

Golf - Monday 28th March 2022

There were no carts allowed on the course and it was social play only today.

I spoke with one of the social players this morning who quit after 9 holes saying he had never seen the course so wet.

As a result of the delay in the course renovations the Ladies Competition tomorrow will be held over the 18 holes. No carts will be allowed on the course.

Golf - Thursday 10th March 2022

Unfortunately the course was CLOSED again today. Obviously it was still too wet to get players out there.

Tomorrow is more promising with another forecast for a fine weather day with possible showers. Today’s sunshine and light winds would have been helpful in drying out the course

The course is currently open for tomorrow but no carts will be allowed on the course.

The rough will be very rough until the staff have a chance to get their mowers out there.

Happy golfing to those willing to give it a go.

Golf - Wednesday 9th March 2022

All is green and peaceful on the Village Green today - blue skies and sunshine at Gosford.

Bates/Buttsworth golf group are enjoying golf and sunshine at Shepparton today
A mere 28 degrees.

We had a look in at the golf course today and it looked good at a distance. No doubt it is still wet underfoot. Tomorrow is a promising good weather day and we also had some wind to help dry the course out today.

The Scramble has been rescheduled from this Saturday until Saturday 26th March.

Hopefully we will not get much more heavy rain and we can all get back on the course again.

At this stage the course is open for tomorrow but wear your mud boots.

Monday, March 7, 2022

Golf - Tuesday 8th March 2022

The Bates/Buttsworth golfers are having a great time enjoying the sunshine at Bendigo - on to Shepparton tomorrow for more good weather.

What is the blue stuff?….

Meanwhile at Gosford…..

As anticipated,  the course WAS  closed today after more predicted rainfall.

It will not come as any surprise to find the course will be closed tomorrow.

The weather is supposed to improve tomorrow and I hope it includes some wind to help to dry out the course.

I am getting a good response from people wanting agave plants - so if any members are wanting any you should let me know before they get picked over.

The ladies have cleaned out their locker room after the recent flooding - a broken pipe at the wash basins.

F-Troop Monday 7th March 2022.

F-Troop Morning Tea - Kevin O’Brien, Peter Martin, Duncan Dyer, Nigel Asken, Trevor Harrison, Ron Gowing, Paul Smith, Don Nicholls, (John Hollebon, Frank Potter,Jan Martin, Sam Knox)

Soil replaced at the rock wall garden after a wash out.

Agave plants removed from Racecourse Road fence line. This was to make way for the new council cycleway. There are too many plants re re-home on the course so if anyone wants some for their gardens let me know. The sizes range from mature, large, medium, small and baby size. (The cost a bomb to buy them from a nursery)

Luckily the rain held off this morning which allowed us to get our 3 hours in without being washed out.

On hand we had Sam Knox, Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Kevin O’Brien, Frank Potter, Nigel Asken, Peter Martin, Don Nicholls, John Hollebon, Ron Gowing, Paul Smith and Jan Martin.

The course was super wet so we all worked up around the clubhouse doing various tasks cleaning up after the rain.

Projects worked on today was a big clean up behind the clubhouse, hedge maintenance, rubbish pick up around the clubhouse, tidy up of the stone wall garden at the back of the men’s 10th tee, tidy up of the paths in front of the clubhouse, putting green area, 1st and 10th tees, wedding garden and practice nets, removal of all of the agave plants planted along the Racecourse Road fence line in preparation for the council to work on the bike path, a start made on dead heading the roses at the practice green.

Morning tea of fresh sandwiches was much appreciated by all.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Golf - Monday 7th March 2022

The course was closed today due to the state of the course.

Even though we did not have any rain earlier in the day the course was far too wet for any golf action.

The Ladies Room was also flooded overnight and has suffered water damage.

The course has also been closed for tomorrow as we have received more rain this afternoon (raining heavily as I write this)

The forecast for Wednesday looks better but it may be too late for the course to recover as there will be more rain tomorrow.

The next course inspection will be Wednesday morning at 5.00am

Golf - Sunday 6th March 2022

We had over 4 inches of rain at our place overnight and after this morning’s deluge. We are not far from the Golf Course so I think it would have been a similar event there.

We did have a drive by this afternoon about 5.30 pm and surprisingly it did not look too bad looking in from Racecourse Road. Obviously it was very wet but not as flooded looking as I would have expected so drainage is happening.

It was enough rain for the Vets to call off their golf tomorrow.

Sure enough more rain is forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday - the rain bomb continues.

We can only live in hope that the rain bomb will eventually dwindle and sunshine and some wind will save our course - allowing us back on the village green.

Saturday, March 5, 2022

Golf - Saturday 5th March 2022

It was great to see some sunshine and a bit of wind today and so far - no rain.

It will help to get some drainage happening and a step closer to getting back on the course.

Unfortunately more rain is predicted so we have a wait and see situation for golf opportunities next week.

Gosford Golf Club - course update - Friday 4th March 2022

Gosford Golf Course is closed due to recent bad weather: Advising all members and guests that our course is closed over the weekend, and the next inspection will be Monday at 5am. We will post an update then.

Our junior 9-hole comp will now start the Sunday after on Sunday 13 March 2022. Our pro-shop will be in touch with the juniors booked in to reschedule.

For all other members the pro-shop will be open from 9am-3pm Saturday and Sunday; if you need to call the pro-shop the number is 02 4337 3333.

The clubhouse will be on reduced trading over the weekend.

The Clubhouse is open for dinner tonight for the usual Member’s Draw and raffles.

Please email all clubhouse enquiries to admin@gosfordgolf.com.au  and all golf enquiries to golf@gosfordgolf.com.au; it will be checked over the weekend.

Golf - Thursday 3rd March 2022

The Bates and Buttsworth group are really rubbing it in today - enjoying golf in sunshine and 28 degrees.

Yes - a bit of envy happening here

Meanwhile at Gosford……

A bright moment on my balcony today between the showers.

It was not surprising at all to find the course closed today - we have had non stop showers which is making it impossible for the course to drain and dry out sufficiently to allow play on the course.

The course is closed again tomorrow following similar forecasts.

At this point the weekends are still open so you will need to get an update from the Pro Shop regarding the state of the course before attempting to play.

Ps. If you are bored tomorrow and want to have a chance at winning the Member’s draw (now over $1,700) attend the club between 5.30pm and 7.30 pm - you need to be there to win. There are also seafood/meat raffles following the Members draw.

Have dinner there to complete your evening - last week I tried the pumpkin soup and it was to die for. Hannah is our new chef and is producing a good choice of meals. See you there!

Golf - Wednesday 2nd March 2022

Some photos from the Bates/Buttsworth golfing tour who wisely chose to go south to the dry country where they are enjoying sunshine and 31 degrees.

Meanwhile at Gosford……..

Yes! The big wet has continued with more to follow according to the forecast.

Our course is drenched along with many of the other courses on the coast and eastern seaboard.

We will just have to hang in with great hope for improved weather.
