Golf - Tuesday 7th July 2009

The course was much drier this week which made way for much friendlier golf. It was overcast and quite cold for much of the day with a few showers to test us out however these were thankfully shortlived. My playing partners today were Julie Hazzard and Jan Walker. They were great company & we did have some highlights along the way. The elusive "plus" putt was hard to find but we did come very close on many occasions.
The Event of the day was the Ladies Qualifying round of the 3BBB vs PAR Team Event and we had 78 starters.
RESULTS:
WINNERS: Maggie Minjoy, Lyn Bates and Leanne Binns - Plus 11
RUNNERS UP: Susan Bourne, Allison Guthrie and Pam Witt - Plus 10
3RD: Di Beechey, Trish Goulding and Rosie Judd - Plus 9 on a countback
4TH: Lorraine Linnert, Lyn Cruickshanks and Norma Cubis - Plus 9 on a countback
NEAREST THE PINS:
A GRADE: 8TH HOLE: Linda Rogers; 14TH HOLE: Norma Cubis
B GRADE: 8TH HOLE: Margaret Pratt; 14TH HOLE: Di Beechey
C GRADE: 8TH HOLE: Val Anderson; 14TH HOLE: Sheila Williams
BALLS WENT TO : Plus 9
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Sharon Anderson had seven plus scores for her team; Rosie Judd put in some good long putts to score plus for her team; Trish Goulding had a gobbler on the 16th for a plus; At the 17th Di Beechey hit her chip shot that rebounded from a tree root and trickled to the hole (Di had no idea where it went); Jan Walker hit a dubious chip shot onto the green at the 15th & it ran by sheer luck beautifully to close to the hole; Rhonda Robertson had a gobbler on the 13th for a plus; Merran Adams scored a nice plus for her team on the 7th
