F-Troop - Monday 8th November 2010

We had a lovely sunny day for golf and F-Trooping. More rain has been predicted for this week but the last two days have been lovely & sunny (so far).
The Central Coast Women's Golf had a tournament at our course this morning so we were a bit restricted with our movements around the course.
We had 11 F-Troopers on hand and we managed to stay very busy all morning. I saw working on the course today - Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Fred Middleton, Warren Gray, Bruce White, George Foster, Peter Martin, Des Wilson, Peter Murphy & Georgina Lamb.
Duncan, Geoff , Fred and Peter Murphy were able to get the old tractor into gear & did a good mornings work underscoring the trees at the 15th.
Warren Gray & Bruce White did some good clean & pick up work around the course & rescued one of the Blue Ice Cyprus trees that had lost it's support stake.
George Foster did some good repair work at the back of the club, repairing lattice work and a back door that badly needed some maintenance. George later assisted with the underscoring of the trees.
Des Wilson & Peter Martin placed some new sleeper logs at the back garden of the 6th Men's tee and general clean & pick up work around the course.
Georgina Lamb helped me to plant out some new flowering cactus plants at the 5th tee that were donated to the club by Wally & Fay Bailey. We also replaced some of the begonia plants that had died off at the 3rd ladies tee garden. After that we did some hard yards at the putting green gardens where we gave all the azaleas and the Abelia a good cut back to tidy them up. They will come back better & thicker with new regrowth. We also trimmed some trees & shrubs that were hanging low over some of the cart paths. I made another attempt at trimming the hedge at the putting green but the little hedger gave up on me - so it is still half done.
Morning tea this morning was some lovely fresh fruit pastries that we all enjoyed. Thanks Chef John!
We managed to get a good mornings work done & it was great to be able to work without showers interrupting us.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
