Our F-Troop morning started well with 13 volunteers turning up on what appeared to be a very hot day. Our work was cut short at morning tea time when the heavens opened and we got some very heavy steady rain which is not a bad thing for the gardens. It sent us & all the social golfers scurrying for cover.
We had Di Beechey (starting at 6 o'clock to beat the heat), Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Peter Murphy, John Coddington, Warren Gray, Des Wilson, Peter Martin, Garry Trigg, George Foster, Yvonne Wilson, Fred Middleton & myself on hand to share the tasks.
Duncan, Fred, Geoff & Peter Murphy took care of removing the large branch from the 1st tee that fell in the wind yesterday & then they moved on to undercutting the trees around the course.
Warren Gray did a long shift on the rough cutter.
George Foster did some plumbing repair work at the back of the clubhouse.
Peter Martin, John Coddington & Garry Trigg cleared the back of the clubhouse of rubbish including the gutter & installed some more sleepers to hold the gutter in place at the parking area.
Di Beechey cleaned up the rubbish at the BBQ area & surrounding carpark.
Yvonne Wilson watered the gardens at the front of the clubhouse.
I managed to finish trimming the hedge around the putting green, cleaned out the gutters, watered the gardens at the putting green and wedding garden & raked up part of the front carpark including some branches and large sticks that had fallen yesterday.
It was too wet to contemplate doing any further tasks but we did manage to fill our time in well today getting some important work done.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
