We had a very productive day a F-Troop this morning in spite of the bad weather of the previous few days.
We were lucky enough to have some nice sunshine to work in however we could not take heavy machinery out on the course because it was so wet.
We had eleven troopers that were not put off with the wet weather of yesterday. Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Bruce White, Trevor Harrison, Richard Casey, Rob Benson, Peter Martin, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin reported for duty and managed to get some good tasks done.
The tree gang of Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge and Bruce White removed dead trees from the 16th. Martin & Bruce also delivered some timber edges and large rocks to the garden on the 2nd so the rest of us could complete the water drainage control at this garden.
Di Beechey, Anne Burgess, Jan Martin, Trevor Harrison, Richard Casey, Rob Benson & Peter Martin worked at the 2nd green garden putting in place some garden edge board, ag pipe and gravel for water control and mulched the garden so we should not have any more water problems there. The garden is now complete and will look sensational when the succulent plants mature. We still have a few finishing touches to add and then it will be a good low maintenance garden that we like. Members should note that this is now a designated garden and there a two drop zones - one at either end of the garden.
The big bonus with this garden is that it has been completed for zero cost to the club. The plants, timber and mulch were donated or free and the rocks and gravel were from club supply left overs.
Peter Martin, Rob Benson & Richard Casey also washed down the windows at the back of the clubhouse and Trevor Harrison did some more maintenance on the F-Troop Shed. Di Beechey and Anne Burgess made a start on the pruning of the Crepe Myrtles at the 4th which is one of our next tasks to be done.
Morning tea was very welcome as we had worked hard all morning. Chef John had prepared a lovely nut & fruit loaf that we all love. Thanks Chef John!
Our firewood sales are continuing at a steady pace - many thanks to Martin Gallagher and his offsiders that take care of the timber deliveries. Our profits are building up and these funds will be used 100% to the beautification of the course. A reminder to members to get your timber orders in while we have a good supply of good quality timber.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
