F-Troop Monday 18th June 2012

Wet weather has set the F-Troopers back a bit with some of the projects and today was no exception.  After a wet long weekend when the F-Troopers had a day off there was more rain through the week that has left the course water logged so we could not go out on the course to work today.

There is always plenty of more work to be done close around the clubhouse so the F-Troopers were busy all morning.  We had 10 volunteers this morning which made light work of some of our tasks.  We had Trevor Harrison, Rob Benson, Warren Gray, Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Peter Martin, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess, Georgina Lamb and Jan Martin to contribute.

During the week we received another large supply of succulent plants donated by Bev Reynolds which has enabled us to have sufficient plants to complete the gardens at the back of the clubhouse and to add to the garden at the practice nets.  Our appreciation to Bev Reynolds for her very generous donations.

Rob Benson & Trevor Harrison prepared the carpet weed matting ready to go down on the 6th native garden; loaded mulch on the gardens at the back of the clubhouse and repaired paths.

Martin & Warren loaded firewood for deliveries, did some path repairs with Geoff and helped with the mulching.

Peter acted as gofer and supervised tasks as well as assisting Trevor Harrison in repairing the watering systems in the gardens at the 1st and 10th tees.

Anne Burgess worked on cleaning the car park, trimming trees at the 1st and tidying that area, then helped to mulch the gardens at the back of the clubhouse, trimmed trees at the 18th and trimmed the crepe myrtles at the 10th.

Di Beechey and Georgina Lamb tidied up around the clubhouse & car park, planted out the new succulents into the gardens at the back of the clubhouse & helped with mulching. Di helped to trim the trees at the 18th & the 10th and tidied up around the 1st & 10th. I placed the golf shoes at the 2nd green garden, tidied up fallen branches at the 3rd; planted out succulents at the back of the clubhouse and at the practice net garden, tidied the wedding garden & putting green area and the practice nets, tidied up at the Men's 10th tee & helped with the crepe myrtles.

It was a busy morning and one of our favourite morning teas - nut loaf (warm from the oven) from Chef John was much appreciated.  Thanks Chef John!

The course was very wet underfoot but two days of sunshine have helped with the drainage.  The gardens were all in good order and did not suffer any water damage.

Firewood sales are going well and our funds are building up enabling us to contribute towards more projects to beautify the course. Our appreciation to the Members who have been placing firewood orders.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

There were no carts allowed on the course today.  However tomorrow the carts will be allowed on the course for the Ladies Competition.
