Golf - Sunday 8th August 2010

We had the most magnificent day for golf - blue sky and sunshine and the course has dried out remarkably well with just the odd sticky patches where we have poor drainage and damaged areas where carts had been irresponsibly driven.

Our playing partners today were Bert & Annie Brink and we had a lovely day on the village green. Bert & Annie are great company & we had some good highlights along the way the best of which was the girls beating the boys for the Keno Ticket where (on our last two holes) we squared the boys at the 8th with a three pointer & blew them out of the water with a four pointer at the 9th.

The Event of the day was a Medley Teams Split Sixes Event + Single Stableford for Men and Ladies.

We had 83 starters with 4 visitors from Shelly Beach, Terrigal & Windsor.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Elly Van Den Berg scored 43 points including a 4 pointer at the 14th, 22 points on the back and 21 points on the front; George Foster had a four pointer at the 17th, 26 points on the back 9 scoring 7 pars, 38 off the stick (2 over par); In the team of Foster & Van Den Berg the team scored 62 points on the back 9 and the girls won the Keno ticket; Norma Cubis scored a nice 38 points to follow up her 40 points win last Thursday; The Team of Asken & Hazzard scored two 3 x 3 pointers on the 3 scores to count holes; Tania Burt scored two 4 pointer holes; Joyce Bosely parred the 1st and the 5th holes; Brett Frewin had birdies on the 10th and the 12th holes; Dick Bosely won a $1 bet from Kay Frewin; Keith Morris was an improved player this week; Team of Binns & Wilson - the boys beat the girls - 9 up for the Keno ticket; Peter Davidson scored a birdie on the 16th; Jan Walker had 3/4 on the 14th; Vicky Morris scored two 4 pointers the best of which was a 90 metre chip in at the 13th for 4/4; Bev Way & Warren Gray both had 4 pointers at the 10th scoring 8 points for the team; Bev Way has been away from golf for 8 weeks and said it was nice to be back (welcome back Bev!); Lorraine Bignall had a 4 pointer at the 16th; Yvonne Wilson chipped in on the 11th again today (*3rd week in a row!); my highlight today was scoring more than 30 points, scoring 4/4 at the 9th to win the Keno ticket from the boys and scraping in to 3rd place in the singles.
