F-Troop - Monday 9th May 2011

We had a great day for F-Troop work - a nice cool day and no rain.

We had 13 troopers on duty today which was fantastic as we had a lot of jobs to be done out on the course. We had Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Fred Middleton, Des Wilson,

Warren Gray, Garry Trigg, George Foster, Noel Fenning, Peter Martin, Georgina Lamb, Jan Martin & Yvonne Wilson.

Martin, Geoff, Des, Fred, Noel & George took care of tree trimming on the 5th & 6th fairways & removed at least six trailer loads of timber from the course before morning tea.

My mission for the day was to get the lilly pilly at the 10th tee trimmed before the girls Pennants team hit off on the first tee. We needed a powerful hedging machine to do the job & it was very noisy while operating. The F-Troopers all shake in their boots when I mention trimming this tree as it is not an easy task. Garry Trigg drew the short straw & volunteered to do the job today (he may well be unavailable next time). Garry worked with the hedging machine & did a fantastic job (gold star for Garry) with Warren Gray & Peter Martin assisting.

Georgina Lamb & myself were on clean up duty so that there was no mess by the time the players got to the 10th tee. We also gave the yellow hedge & the ground cover at the 10th a quick make over & achieved all of this work without interfering with the girl's pennants match.

Georgina & I went on to work on the gardens at the 2nd tee, removing weeds and trimming the shrubs.

Garry & Warren went on to trim the hedge at the 12th green, raked the 7th tee & did rubbish pick up around the course from the 7th to the 18th.

Peter & Des did rubbish pick up 1st to the 6th.

After morning tea Georgina cleaned up under the clubhouse while I raked up the wedding garden. Des & Yvonne planted some new camellias & tidied up at the 14th.

Morning tea this morning was delicious - thank you Chef John! We had fruit pastries which were still warm from the oven - lovely! It was very much appreciated by our hard working Troopers.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
