Golf - Tuesday 15th March 2011 - Irish Day

We celebrated St Patrick's Day in great style with most of the girls wearing the traditional green shirts( & more) to mark Irish Day showing the true spirit of the day. The 2 Ball Irish Multiplier was the choice for the Teams Event which is very daunting if one partner gets a 3 or 4 pointer & the other partner scores zero. We had some great scores come in for the teams event and the Singles.

My playing partner today was Kath Payn & we played well the first nine holes with some very good highlights along the way. Our other playing partners were Rosalie Dyer & Yvonne Wilson & we all had a good day on the village green.

The Event of the day was a Ladies Single Stableford + 2 Ball Irish Multiplier.

We had 81 starters with one visitor - Eileen Major from the USA.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Fran James had 4 pointers on the 3rd and the 8th; Glennis English had a gobbler on the 15th; Rosalie Dyer scores a nice 3 pointer on the 13th; Kath Payn played the 16th beautifully to score a 3 pointer; Yvonne Wilson had 4/4 on the 4th hole; my highlights were scoring 4/4 on the 4th, getting a great bunker shot out from the inside edge of the bunker at the 10th to score a 3 pointer and winning a ball on the day. I did not have time to gather many highlights today - my apologies to anyone I did not get to that had done something special.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS : At Hawks Nest last week Lyn Bates won Division 1 Scratch and the 36 hole net over two days for Division 1. Congratulations Lyn - Well Done!
