We had thirteen good helpers turn up for F- Troop this morning which meant that we could complete some much needed tasks. We had Duncan Dyer, Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Peter Martin, Warren Gray, Des Wilson, Richard Casey, Di Beechey, Georgina Lamb, Anne Burgess, Jan Walker, Yvonne Wilson & Jan Martin.
Duncan, Martin & Geoff were on tree trimming duties all morning.
Warren Gray & Des Wilson were on loose timber & rubbish pick up around the course. We gave the new ute it's first run on F-Troop duties today. With a bit of help from technology the F-Troopers got the ute started & it got a full mornings work in with Warren Gray in control.
Warren sustained an injury to his nose which was medicated on the job with a band aid by Des
attractively draped over Warren's nose.
Peter Martin & Richard Casey helped to set up the water hoses for us on "Camellia Way" & then Richard started on his task of painting all of the sand bins, bucket holders and seats around the course. That will be an ongoing task over the next few weeks. There was also some work done on the grate in front of the clubhouse that needs attention to make it safer.
Di Beechey worked at the BBQ garden & did a lot of clean up and watering at the clubhouse gardens and the wedding garden.
Yvonne Wilson worked in the wedding garden & clubhouse gardens tidying up plants and watering. Later Des & Yvonne worked at the 14th tee gardens.
Anne Burgess planted out some new camellias in "Camellia Way" & transplanted some others to other places including the wedding garden. With the help of Georgina Lamb & Jan Walker all of the Camellias got a good watering and a dose of seasol. We cleaned up along the walk from the 17th green to the 18th tee including trimming back along the cart path at the 17th green.
Jan Walker & Georgina Lamb helped me to weed & water the Tanika Grasses at the 17th green. That turned into a bigger job than expected because the rogue grassed had taken over & it took longer to sort the weeds from the Tanika Grass. The area looks very tidy now & the grasses will have a better chance of thriving without competing with weeds.
F- Troop morning tea was worth waiting for - fruit scones with Jam & Cream & mini muffins.
Thanks Chef John! after a hard mornings work we all look forward to our morning tea break.
Di Beechey has volunteered to take care of all of the indoor plants (as if she has not got enough to do) as Julie Hazzard has been indisposed with a bad back for some time. This may be an ongoing problem for a while so Julie has needed to give up her time to F-Troop work. We wish you a speedy recovery Julie & thank you for your past efforts with the indoor plants - it was much appreciated.
We did achieve some good work today - a bit of follow up rain this week would be nice as the ongoing hot weather is taking its toll on some of the gardens.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
