Our Club is now a very popular wedding venue and we have eight weddings booked in the next month or so with more to come.
Today the weather was a little threatening so the wedding party were lucky to be able to find a break in the rain long enough to be able to hold the wedding service in the garden.
The reception was in the Magnolia Room and the table setup looked fabulous. They chose a very unique table dressing using curled shavings of cedar wood which looked ( & smelled) great. The groom apparently is a carpenter - so it was a tribute to that.
I did spend some time cleaning up around the wedding garden and the front entrance to the club today. With all the wet weather it is hard to keep this area clean as the dirt walks in with the shoes and buggies and there is always those relentless gum leaves causing a mess. However it is hard to explain why there was so much other garbage lying outside the pro shop area when there are multiple garbage tins/cigarette ash trays for Members/Players to use barely more than three steps from any area .....and yet today I hosed out multiple cigarette butts, bottle tops, lolly papers, broken tees, paddle pop sticks, & so on and so on. I think as Members of the Club we can make a much better effort than what we do to keep this area respectable. Dirt & leaves are going to be an everyday occurance but the rest of the rubbish is not acceptable.
One of the upcoming F-Troop projects is to repaint all the seating in this area. Wouldn't it be nice if we all did our bit by disposing of excess rubbish in a respectful way.
While I am on my soap box I will also comment about some of the plants that have been stolen from our gardens recently among those being a rare blue daisy which was planted near the ladies tee at the 2nd and two orchid plants from the garden at the 18th. That is very shabby behaviour from those people responsible.
