Magnolia Soulangiana
Magnolia Denudata
We had a magic day for golf - blue sky and sunshine with a promise of spring. Spring is not far away as evidenced in our gardens showing promise of beautiful colour. The Magnolias are magnificent and are a great show at the entrance to the starting tees. My thanks to Ron Gowing for identifying the Magnolias as I have never known their correct botanical name. The Azaleas are responding well to TLC and are having the best show I have seen in the putting green garden. The next few weeks will have them totally in full flower which will herald in the spring.
The last of the "Fireweed" on the first was removed and disposed of today which should be the last of the badly infested areas. If you see any other infested areas report them to me and feel free to dispose of any stray fireweed that you see growing around the course by pulling the plant out by it's roots & placing it in the nearest garbage tin. That will aid against re-infestation next year.
The Golf Event of the day was a Men's Single Stableford + Teams Event.
We had 176 starters with 4 visitors from Ashlar, Heidelberg Vic.; Overseas and Toukley.
