The hot weather continues, but thankfully not to the extremes of the last few weeks oppressive weather. Some work was done today on the gardens at the 18th tee with us managing to get the watering system working at long last.
I take this opportunity to warn all players not to drink from this water supply. There are signs attached to the tap warning against drinking the water, but little regard is usually taken to signs. This water is feeding directly from the dams and has not had any treatment at all. Drinking from this supply could make you very sick - so take heed! It is designed as a water supply to the gardens ONLY. There are water bubblers at the 14th and the 17th for drinking purposes.
We also managed to give the Ladies garden at the 13th tee a bit of a refresher as it was badly shocked by the heat waves of the last few weeks. Most natives are very tough but Lilly Pilly's will not withstand direct heat in the over 40 degrees and no water so they have suffered the most.
I have attached a photo of my cactus at home that is flowering beautifully and loving all the heat.
The shrubs at the 13th are showing signs of recovery so they have had the dead leaves trimmed, the garden has been well watered and treated with seasol - so we can look forward to a recovery by this garden.
F-Troop are in need of funds to purchase some new wheels for the donated ute and also are in need of some new tools necessary for the maintenance work. With this cause in mind we are reminding players that they can get in early this year for their firewood purchases. Profits from the sale of timber go towards financing F-Troop projects. At the moment we have a good supply of high quality burning timber. First in get the pick of the crop. The cost of the timber this year will be $110 per cubic metre (delivered and stacked) and $200 for 2 cubic metres (delivered and stacked). Ring Martin Gallagher to place your order.
The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stroke for Men and Ladies.
We had 100 starters with 16 visitors from Ashridge, Everglades, Fairbairn Hamersley, Mangrove Mountain, Oatlands, Tamworth, Terrigal and Shelley Beach.
