F-Troop Monday 9th November 2009

We were down on numbers for F-Troop duties today but managed to cover a whole lot of chores.
Those I saw today were Garry Trigg, Des Wilson, Duncan Dyer, Warren Gray, Spencer Walklate, Geoff Bridge, Peter Martin and Martin Gallagher.
We managed to get down some more dead trees at the 10th & 12th & get some firewood timber cutting done supervised by Martin Gallagher. Duncan Dyer organised the cutting of about 95% of the pine tree seed pods at the 14th which cause such a mess when they fall. It was a good job done to prevent danger in the future. Warren Gray supervised the timber pick up around the course & keeps clear my rubbish pick up bins at the practice nets. Des Wilson constructed the seat for the 6th tee and set it in place. Garrry Trigg did some rough cutting around the course. Peter & I worked on the 6th tee garden, finishing off the chipping & poisoning of the weeds under the tree & spread out the pinebark mulch. The garden was finished with feature plants made up from a donation received from Wendy Stapleton. The Mondo grass was donated last week by Wal & Fay Bailey and planted in earlier in the week. Col & Kay Adams are covering the cost of the bench seat and the mulch. Martin Gallagher donated the timber for both the benches at the 8th and the 6th. Later in the day I cleaned up the garden in front of the Directors Car park in readiness for the big Brisbane Water Week of Golf Ladies Event that is going to be held at Gosford tomorrow. Di Beechey hosed down the front entrance to the club & Pro Shop and it looked very clean & fresh.
F-Troop give a huge vote of thanks for the 6th garden to our supporting members Wendy & Ray Stapleton, Wal & Fay Bailey & Col & Kay Adams! Without their support these projects would languish through lack of funds.
Talking throughout the morning to the vets as they came past the garden - they all gave their vote of approval to the new seat and garden. The first group to come through after the garden had been finished were from Terrigal, Toukley and Everglades & had their photos taken as they were the first to use the new seat in the shade of our lovely Chinese Elm tree. Our F-Trooper Des Wilson now has a new tag - He has done such a good job of constructing the new seats at the 8th and the 6th that he has been promoted to the position of F-Troop "Benchologist". Thanks Des - That was a great effort!.
A map of our water outlets around the course for F-Troop use has been put on our F-Troop notice board.
Summer is with us which means the rough grassed areas are starting the get faster growth & rough cutting will need to be incresed for the summer period. Last year we had a roster in place whereby our F-Troop members would take an alloted day and time to do the required roughcutting around the course. We need some volunteers for the coming months - so if you would like to help with this project than please contact Peter Martin.
We also require some assistance with the "removal of tree stumps" project which has been detailed in this month's Member's Newsletter. We need assistance in filling in holes after stumps have been professionaly removed. This will be done over a 3 day period in the first week of December. If you would like to help with this project please contact Peter Martin.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
