There were eight volunteers for F-Troop today which was good for a major holiday period.
We had Trevor Harrison, Mark (Zorro) Sorridimi, Geoff Bridge, Peter Martin, Nigel Asken, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.
I was impressed with the amount of work we got through today with such a small workforce.
Trevor Harrison & Mark (Zorro) Sorridimi used their building skills to remove the small ball at the 10th and re-weld it back in place so that it was balanced & centred. Then they laid down some carpet grass and placed decorative ants around the base of the sculptures for added interest. It was a job well done.
Di Beechey & Anne Burgess cleaned up the BBQ area, cleaned up some gardens at the Wedding garden area, started on a new garden feature at the 3rd fairway which will look great when finished - so watch that spot.
Geoff Bridge worked on the fallen tree at the 18th tee which had come crashing down in the bad weather over the holidays.
Peter Martin & Nigel Asken were on rubbish pick up and managed to take three full trailer loads to the dumping area.
I worked on the putting green gardens, dead headed the roses, raked the pathways & cleaned up the practice nets, watered the potted plants around the fairways.
We enjoyed morning tea of Mini Muffins still warm from the oven - Thanks Chef John!
The F-Troopers were invited to join our Junior Encourage Shield side and their manager Graeme Kingsmill for a BBQ lunch being held for the junior side after their golf practice round. Supporting Graeme with the juniors were Mark Stimpson, Ron Puiatti & Col Matterson. It was a pleasure to see our juniors interested in participating in these days and we wish them well for their three matches in the Encourage Shield.
Gosford Juniors participating this year are Cameron Morgan, Dean Payne, Curtis Larnach, Brendan Potter & Phillip Anderson.
The Encourage Shield is played between participating local golf clubs Toukley, Everglades, Gosford & Shelly Beach with eligible players having handicaps of 10 and over. Single handicappers are ineligible to play. The first match is to be played next Thursday, then the following Monday and Thursday.
Junior District Pennants start at the end of January and we encourage any junior players wishing to participate to contact manager Graeme Kingsmill and he will be happy to take you under his wing.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE AND HAPPY GOLFING IN 2013!
