Golf - Tuesday 23rd March 2010

We were lucky enough to have a perfect day for golf - a bit hot at times but the course is in good condition & with the latest spell of sunshine there is a bit of run back on the course which brings back some of the good scores that we got today.
My playing partners were Rosalie Dyer and Shirley Daly & we were very happy to bring home a trophy winner in Rosalie who had a great day scoring a net 71 with some lovely pars along the way including some great putting.
The Event of the day was a Single Stroke - Club Medal .

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY s reported to me: Helen Stuart had a nice par on the 6th; Soo Chun had a birdie on the 14th; Silvia Lee had gobblers at the 4th and the 18th; Lynn Puiatti parred the 8th; Rosalie Dyer had pars on the 1st, 5th, 12th, 14th, 15th and 16th; Yvonne Cumming played a lovely steady game for her 70 nett; In Lee was 10 under at half way and finished with a lovely 63 nett after having a 10 on one hole; Norma Cubis birdied 5th and had a gobbler birdie at the 10th, her playing partners Robyn Johnston - birdie at the 14th; and Debra Wright a birdie at the 6th;Doris Morris chipped in for a birdie at the 12th; my highlight was a par at the 15th.
It was reported to me that Judy Verlander was playing the 10th hole and lost her ball. As the group behind caught up - Judy played another ball which went about 5 foot into the rough where they had difficulty locating the ball. Judy picked a ball up and declared that it was not hers, then remembered that she played a second ball, so had to penalize herself for picking up her second ball. Judy replaced the ball to play it where she found it. Having done that, her group ahead of her called out that they had found her original ball. Judy immediately picked up the ball again and had to penalize herself a second time as she had already played her second ball- at this stage her score was 7. Judy finished the hole with an eleven. Well sometimes we just have these days! Lucky we have a sense of humour playing this game especially during a stroke round. Judy will be okay - she is still on a high from her "Hole-in-One" a few weeks ago.
