Golf - Sunday 6th December 2009

We had another perfect summer day for golf with just enough breeze to keep it comfortable.

Our playing partners were Bob Knox and Doon Jansen & we had a lovely day - but pity about the putting skills.

The boys outplayed us on the first nine but we girls put it together after that. We finished the day with a Christmas celebration dinner at the Wyoming Lantern with some of the golfers so in all it was a good day.

The Event of the day was our traditional CHRISTMAS GALA DAY which was a Single Stableford + Team 1 x 2 x 3 which had a 12.30pm shotgun start.

We had 115 starters with 1 visitor from Terrigal.

RESULTS:

TEAM WINNERS: Clyde Cruickshanks, Lyn Cruickshanks, Peter Laybutt and Sandy Laybutt - 93 points

TEAM RUNNER UPS: Peter Davidson, Margaret Davidson, Warren Gray and Mary Bromwich - 90 points

TEAM 3RD: Arthur Haviland, Bev Way, Garry Wilkinson and Doreen Vines - 89 points on a countback

MEN'S SINGLES RESULTS:

WINNER: Jim Forrester - 40 points on a countback

RUNNER UP: Tom Ballard - 40 points

3RD: Kevin O'Brien - 39 points on a countback

WINNER: Lyn Cruickshanks - 43 points

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Mark Douglas hit his drive off the 16th - it rebounded backwards off a tree and finished on the 11th fairway behind him - he then continued back to the 16th almost parring the hole; Kath Small parred the 2nd and scored 19 points on the back 9; Spencer Walklate had 3 pointers at the 14th and the 16th; Linda Hartley had a 4 pointer at the 10th; Ian Hartley had 2/4 on the 8th; Rosie Dyer had 3 x 3 pointers in a row; Jan Walker had 4/4 at the 16th; Neville Walker had 2/4 at the 12th; Yvonne Wilson parred the 4th and Des Wilson had some good par holes; Sheena Asken birdied the 4th; Jim Forrester and Carmen Fitzgerald both got 40 points and had several 4 pointers each; Bob Morris birdied the 10th; Maggie Minjoy had a birthday this week; I did not have any golf highlights however a 'surprise' presentation of some beautiful flowers in appreciation of my garden work was a lovely highlight.
