F-Troop - Monday 17th August 2009

The F-Trooper's worked hard today shovelling 4 tonne of gravel to form a new path at the
new garden. This all had to be levelled & set in concrete and the new step formed and set in
place.
Those F-Troopers on duty were our regulars Des Wilson, Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Peter Martin, Peter Murphy, George Foster, Warren Gray and Arthur Verlander and they did a fine days work.
The new garden is complete with the exception of the instalation of another staghorn which has been donated for the garden by Robin Incoll. This will be completed on our next F-Troop day.
Next Monday is the "Holden Scramble" day and many of the troopers will be participating in this day. Those that are available for F-Troop are going to meet at the greenkeepers shed at 7.30am to do general clean up work where necessary.
Other work completed today was the set up of the "Firewood" storage area; instalation of the F-Troop notice board outside the club; planting of some daisies (donated by Brian & Lesley Gregory) at the hill garden on the 17th; planting of a crepe myrtle tree at the back of the 2nd temporary green; planting of mondo grass at the new step area; watering of all the front gardens.
The course gardens have been entered in the Gosford City Council garden competition which will be judged between the 15th and 18th September this year. I am calling on all of my helpers who have adopted a garden to have their patch in pristine condition during those dates so we can have the best chance of a favourably result. We are also entering our specialty gardens in the theme section of the competition (ladies garden, wedding garden, bush toilet garden, BBQ garden) as well as the garden on the 18th in the best Eco friendly garden. I think we can be very proud of our gardens as they are all maintained by non professional gardeners who do a super job. My thanks to all my helpers who often go unrecognised as they do their work in their own time & the gardens appear magically neat and tidy.
We have raised to date $755 from the sale of firewood which has helped considerably with our projects. Many thanks to the members that have purchased firewood from our supplies.
We are always looking for extra helpers particularly now that summer is coming up and the summer growth takes hold. I have a few gardens that are in need of adoption so please get in touch with me if you can help.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
