Oh dear! The first day of our 2009 Championships and we had to get bad weather - "Not Happy Jan!"

We did have some good mud runners & they came in with some reasonable scores given the wet conditions.

The Event of the day was a Single Stroke & was the first of the four rounds of the Championships to be held Tuesday/Thursday of the next two weeks.

We had 68 starters so there must have been a lot of players put off by the predicted wet weather for this week.

NETT WINNER: Lorraine Linnert - 72 points nett

RUNNER UP: Yvonne Bean - 73 points nett

3RD: Marie Gledhill - 76 points nett

GROSS WINNER: Marie Gledhill - 88 points

NETT WINNER: Chris Dekker - 76 points nett

RUNNER UP: Bev Adams - 78 points nett

3RD: Dawn Cook - 79 points on a countback

WINNER: Susan Bourne - 75 points nett

RUNNER UP: June Bowen - 80 points nett

3RD: Carol Farrell - 83 points nett

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Lorraine Linnert was 5 over par on the back 9; Michelle Martin at the 17th was hitting her ball out from the water hazard, the ball dissapeared straight up a water pipe & was never seen again; Marie Gledhill had a birdie on the 5th; Sheena Asken had a birdie on the 10th; Mary Beard parred the 10th; Yvonne Wilson had a gobbler on the 1st; Lyn Cruickshanks hit her drive off the 18th & then lost grip on her driver & found it on the Men's tee; Lynn Puiatti had two gobblers.
