F-Troop - Monday 13th October 2008

Today was another successful F-Troop day with 13 willing volunteers doing a wonderful job. The troops covered jobs like filling in trenches, collecting loose timber and rubbish, weeding, watering, felling of dead/diseased trees and rough cutting. Those that I saw at work were George Foster; Spencer Walklate; Garry Trigg; Martin Gallagher; Neil Hancock; Doug Incoll; Ray Presdee; Peter Martin; Warren Gray; Anne Burgess; Duncan Dyer and Bert Brink - all contributing to the beautification of the course.
Martin Gallagher did a great job of organising the groups into action & much was achieved. Peter managed to get the watering system on the 18th tee garden into working mode ( that will impress Bev Way); Duncan Dyer & his crew made short work of the tree felling on the 9th; George Foster & Garry Trigg worked on the rough cutters. The strong men of F-Troop helped me by placing the feature rocks onto the second tee garden and carried away all the deadwood & rubbish from the second tee area. I was very excited today to be able to get a hose running from the new fairway watering system to the second tee shade garden which means that we can easily get water to this garden in the long hot stretches of summer. (Enoni will be impressed).
