F-Troop - Monday 19th October 2015

We had 13 volunteers today which allowed us to get some good projects done.
On hand were Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Don Nicholls, Rob Benson, Geoff Bridge, Warren Gray, Kevin O'Brien, Garry Trigg, John Hollebon, Peter Martin, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.
The tree gang of Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Geoff Bridge, Kevin O'Brien and Garry Trigg were kept busy all morning removing dangerous branches, a dead tree at the 9th and undercutting on the 18th, 4th and the 5th.
Rob Benson and Warren Gray had the daunting task of rubbish pick up around the course.
Don Nicholls repaired a break in the down pipe near the Pro Shop and helped Peter Martin make repairs to part of the front fence.
John Hollebon worked on trimming the hedges at the 1st and 10th tee.
Di Beechey cleaned up around the clubhouse, tidied the gardens at the front steps and the back of the clubhouse.
Anne Burgess cleaned up the BBQ garden and raked up the side entry.
I worked at the 14th, cleaning up the Bush Toilets and planted in some donated agapanthus, fertilised and watered the new trees at the 17th, tidied up the 6th tranquility garden, tidied up the ladies 3rd tee, checked the hedge at the 4th tee, checked the water feature at the 1st, watered the pots there and in the wedding gazebo, tidied the garden at the Men's 10th tee and started work on tidying the front street garden.
We all enjoyed morning tea of savoury breads, iced buns and iced donuts - Thank you "Barto"
It was great to get some fantastic donations from our lady members which we will put towards the cost of a concrete an area at the BBQ area which will allow us to keep the place nice and tidy. THANK YOU LADIES AND THE RSL SOCIAL GOLFERS who have also given us a donation that will be put towards this project.

We have some important dates coming up for our supporting Members. Please take note of the following days which are for the benefit of all our Members - so take advantage by booking your tables where necessary and come along and support your club.
TUESDAY 20TH OCTOBER 2015 (This coming Tuesday)
We have got the Annual General Meeting of the Ladies Committee in the afternoon after golf.
I understand that it will be necessary to take nominations from the floor to fill the position of President.
At 7pm at the Clubhouse we are holding the ANNUAL General Meeting of the Gosford Golf Club. All positions on the Board have been filled so there is no voting necessary. We will welcome Paul Scholberg to the Board in the position of President, Greg Harrison to the Board in the position of Treasurer, and Michael Crookes and John Harrison to the Board.
If you have any issues or even compliments to raise, this is the place to do it. We are looking forward to seeing a lot of our Members attending this meeting so you will all be aware of where the club is at.
TUESDAY 3RD NOVEMBER 2015- MELBOURNE CUP DAY.
the club is running a new format for Melbourne Cup Day this year.
Tuesday is traditionally a Ladies day and thus will not change from its traditional format except for the following:
The changes will be :
The Ladies will hit off the 1st 9 holes, shotgun start, playing 18 holes.
The Men will hit off the back nine - shotgun start, playing 18 holes - Single Stableford
Each player (men and women) will receive a free sweep ticket when you pay your $17 playing fee. If you are the lucky winner of the sweep your will receive your $17 plus the value of your meal credited back to your golf account. If you bring along a friend they can also play for $17.
The Bistro meals will start at $9.90 with meal deals or the normal bistro menu.
To add to this there us going to be Happy Hour 2 1/2 hours before the race and half an hour afterwards. $3 schooners or wine.
This sounds like it us going to be a fantastic day for ALL of our members to enjoy. Gather up your friends, husbands, wives and make a good day of it at the GOSFORD GOLF CLUB.
SATURDAY 5TH DECEMBER 2015
2015 ANNUAL PRESENTATION NIGHT.
The format will be the same as the very successful previous year. The DINNER DANCE will be FREE for playing members. It will be a sit down formal dinner with trophy presentations throughout the evening and followed by dancing to the music by "Oakroad" ( our popular dance band from last year)
Come along and support all of our Champions and winners of prestigious trophies and have a very enjoyable social night with your friends. Get in early and book your tables for thIs important event.

After a cloudy start the day finished up perfect for golf today. I believe the flies have made their presence felt.
The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford + 2 Ball Team Mixed, Men, Ladies.
We had 90 starters with 16 visitors from Everglades, Magenta, Moore Park, Shelly Beach and The Lakes.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: I did not arrive in time to rotate around the tables tonight but I did manage to collect these highlights: Steve Cross had 4/4 at the 18th; Col Kelly had a birdie, par, birdie in succession; Alice Diamond was on the 12th for one and would have won nearest the pin if it had been there for the ladies; Kevin O'Brien scored 6/2 on the 18th after hitting OOB; Chris Dekker was happy with her 36 points; Lorraine Bignall had 4 pars and swallowed a fly at the 13th which added some protein to her salad sandwich; Wally Bailey had 5 wipes and three 4 pointers which will bring him back next week; Alice Diamonds a had a good 160 m second shot to the green on the 7th hole.

We had great weather again today for the second round of the Men's Championship.
The Golf Event of the day was a Men's Single Stroke - 2nd Round of the Men's 2015 Championship.
We had 216 starters with 9 visitors from Antill Park, Mangrove Mountain, Massey Park, Pacific Dunes, PGA, Shelly Beach and Singleton.
