Golf - Sunday 20th February 2011

The hot, humid February weather continues as to be expected at this time of the year. The promised cool change, with thunder storms and rain started to happen in the late afternoon and then disappeared just as quickly as it arrived. Our players appreciated the cold ice water supplied at the 5th and the 15th hole as we struggled to cope with the humidity.
Our playing partners were Wally & Rhonda Robertson and they were great company. We struggled for the 3 pointers but all managed to contribute at least a couple each which gave us some good highlights.
The Event of the day was a Single Stableford for Men and Ladies + Medley Team Stableford - 1 score to count.

Golf - Thursday 17th February 2011

We have had some good news this week. The F-Troop Ute has got another set of wheels kindly donated and installed by Jeff Rogers. THANK YOU JEFF! After some low life stole the original wheels from the F-Troop Ute ( that was originally donated to us by Trevor Blackburn) we were devastated. It is donations like this that restore our faith in humanity and proves that we do have Members who care.
F-Troopers gave some much needed TLC to the tibouchinas on the 2nd fairway giving them a good water and chipping and treated them with seasol which will hopefully lift them. The lower tibouchinas get water from the fairway watering system so do not suffer as much as the higher ones. They are all coming into bud at present ready for a lovely display at the end of next month right through the winter months. I hope the affected tibouchinas rally in time to blossom for the season. The trees have grown three times the original size and should double again by next year which will give us a brilliant display. The new crepe myrtles have breezed through the hot summer months & will give us a lovely summer display in the future.
The Golf Event of the day was a Ladies Single Stableford Over the Field and we had 30 starters.

It was one of those days again - Will it continue to rain or will it stop? Many ladies were pondering this morning whether to start or not. F-Troop Monday 14th February 2011

After a shaky start to the morning with some quite heavy showers keeping us under cover for a while we managed to get a good workload done by lunchtime.
We had an excellent turn up considering the inclement weather with eight volunteers reporting for duty. We had Duncan Dyer, Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Di Beechey, Peter Martin, Georgina Lamb, Anne Burgess and myself.
The girls headed under cover & cleaned the walk area and furniture underneath the clubhouse.
The weather cleared so we were able to work out on the front street where we picked up a lot of the fallen timber and rubbish that was along the front footpath.
After morning tea Georgina Lamb, Peter Martin, Geoff Bridge & myself started out on the course, cleaning the 1st green path, the 2nd tee area and the leaves to the left of the fairway, the 3rd ladies tee, and the 7th tee.
Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer and Geoff Bridge did a great job cleaning up and re-arranging the F-Troop storage rooms so that everything is tidy and easy to find. After morning tea Martin and Geoff re-staked some of the grevilleas on the 6th. Martin then delivered our first load of firewood for the season.
Morning tea was very welcome and we enjoyed some lovely fresh croissants with butter & jam - Yumm!
Thanks John!
We did achieve a lot more than we thought we would in the early part of the morning. We were expecting to get washed out & did not anticipate a lot of volunteers in the wet weather - so it was all good!
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
