Golf - Saturday 28th August 2010

It was a magnificent day for Golf & Weddings and we catered well for both. The course has dried out and we are getting some great scores coming in from our golfers.

The wedding garden area was looking beautiful with our magnolia trees still in bloom. I have attached some photos of the wedding garden & the Magnolia Room - both wonderful wedding venues & the views at late afternoon were spectacular on this lovely sunny day.

I understand that we have a lot of weddings coming up in the next three months - about 10 weddings in 12 weeks which will keep us busy & the revenue coming in along with the other regular bookings we normally get.

I have attached a couple of photos received from George & Vicki Foster this morning from their holiday in Ireland & the UK. The photos are of their group enjoying a pint of Guiness in Ireland & George with Jack at the "Mucky Duck" whilst out "having a pint" which Vicki says is almost a daily ritual. Now that would be hard to believe ! Thanks for the photos Vicki !
The Golf Event of the day was a Men's Single Stableford +Teams Event.

Golf - Friday 27th August 2010

The Greens staff & F-Troop have made big efforts in keeping the front gardens, wedding gardens, 1st and 10th tees clean & tidy which has been a difficult challenge with all the havoc the wild wind is causing with falling branches & leaves. We have got 5 weddings in the next 5 weeks plus two special ladies days & a garden competition to compete in so every effort is being made to present our gardens at their best. Thanks to generous donations of spring flowers from Wayne Tomkinson and Brian & Lesley Gregory we have been able to put in place a colourful display at the 1st tee just in time for our "Spring Fun Day" to be held next Tuesday.

My thanks to our F-Troopers who are contributing some extra time to help out with the garden maintenance out on the course. Your time is much appreciated.

Wedding photos from Ireland -Tuesday 24th August 2010

Here are some more great photos of the Puiatti Wedding in Ireland sent to me today by Vicki & George Foster who have had five days in Ireland & are now in the UK. Vicki & George assure me that we have not lived until we have been to an Irish wedding !

By all accounts everything went beautifully - even the weather turned from rain & blowing a gale to wonderful sunshine by the 2.30 pm wedding.

Photos attached are of the wedding party including Glen, Mags, Ron, Lynn & Mags parents Viv & Ann - all looking stunning in their wedding attire.

Thanks to Vicki & George !

The new merchandise will now be displayed on the right hand side of the shop as you walk in where there is now a lot more room after the removal of the old desk. The Member's Lounge & washroom area is coming together & should be operational in the next few weeks.

F-Troop Monday 23rd August 2010

Our F-Troopers are so dedicated that they were prepared to work through the rain this morning as we are under pressure to get jobs done in the gardens.
Much appreciation to Geoff Bridge, Martin Gallagher, Bruce White, Warren Gray and Kerry Cubis all of whom put in some hard yards out in the rain. We needed to install the support poles for the new picket fence being erected at the 18th tee to replace the temporary green cloth fence that was put in place to keep out the rabbits from the garden plants. In addition to this I needed a couple of trailer loads of garden soil for the new garden at the 1st and there was plenty of rubbish to be picked up around the course. All these jobs were done by our F-Troopers in good time.
Wayne Tomkinson delivered 100 new healthy pansy plants that he has donated to us to enhance our gardens. Much appreciation to Wayne for his generous donation as these plants will add much needed interest to our gardens at the path to the 1st and 10th tees. All of these plants were put in place & the wedding garden area tidied up.
The Pro shop renovations are ongoing, supervised by Des Wilson & much progress was made there today. The tiling is just about finished, the buggy rooms are finished, the front desk changeover is all set to go ahead - so it is all go in the Pro Shop.
Morning tea was some delicious ham & cheese croissants warm from the oven - Thanks Chef John!. We had all worked hard in the rain so morning tea was very much looked forward to & appreciated.
Considering it was such an unsettled day and we were working with a skeleton crew we achieved quite a lot of work in a short amount of time.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
