Golf - Wednesday 20th August 2014

Working on the course gardens today I came across damage caused by our natural predators - one being rabbits attacking the lavenders at the 16th digging large holes around the roots of the plants and at the Ladies garden at the 13th and the Camellias at the 14th some cockatoos had given the plants a complimentary trim which is rather frustrating when we have our garden inspection in a couple of weeks for the Gosford Council Garden Competition where we are competing for the Best Commercial Garden.

The weather held off today thankfully so many of our golfers got their game in with no rain at all.

The Golf Event of the day was a Men's Single Stableford + 2 Ball Irish Multiplier.

We had 114 starters with 6 visitors from Grange, Kooindah Waters, Morisset, PGA, Wollongong & Wyong.

RESULTS:

2 BALL IRISH MULTIPLIER RESULTS:

WINNERS:  Greg Thompson & Warren Guest - 84 points on a countback

Golf - Tuesday 19th August 2014

Golf was a non event today with on/off rain all day. I believe two die hard social players went out as the course was still open.

The weather forecast looks a bit better with mention of possible showers. Contact the Pro Shop in the morning to check the condition of the course.

There has been a change in the date of the Gosford Bowl and Salver from the previous email advice.

On the 2nd of September 2014 the scheduled event is going to be the Pro Shop Day.

The Gosford Bowl and Salver will now be scheduled for the 9th September 2014.  Please get in touch with Jan Fitzgerald if you cannot attend the event on that day and a refund of fees can be arranged.

CONGRATULATIONS TO LYNN AND RON PUIATTI who are now the proud Grandparents of a beautiful baby boy (photo to come) "Archer Ronnie"  born in New Zealand.

Golf - Tuesday 19th August 2014 - Gosford Bowl and Salver postponed

The programmed Gosford Bowl and Salver Stroke match that was due to be played tomorrow has been postponed to a future day due to the heavy rain already received & dire forecast for tomorrow.

The new date will be advised as soon as a decision has been made by the Match Committee.

Meanwhile as at this point the course has not been closed - so there will be a Single Stableford for the diehards who wish to play if the weather permits.

F- Troop - Monday 18th August 2014

Our course was busy today with the AHA Social Golf Day which was marred with bad weather.  We were lucky and got most of our projects done before the heavy showers moved in.

We had eleven volunteers this morning which was great considering it was a miserable day for working and we were restricted in our use of the course.

We had Trevor Harrison, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Warren Gray, Rob Benson, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess, Carolyn Buttsworth and Jan Martin on duty today so progress could be made.

The Tree Gang of Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge and Trevor Harrison prepared logs for splitting to stock up for our next year's firewood supply.

Don Nicholls & Peter Martin repaired a water filter in the Club Coffee Machine and then Don helped out at the wood pile.

Rob Benson replaced a broken support pole at the 17th green pathway after helping Warren Gray with the rubbish pick up..

Anne Burgess weeded the front street garden and tidied up the BBQ area.

Di Beechey & Carolyn Buttsworth worked on the garden behind the putting green, planting in new azaleas and tidying plants in the garden.

I planted in a new Orange Jasmine and fertilized the garden at the 14th green to complete the garden there, cleaned up at the bush toilet area, fertilized the orange trumpet plants at the 14th, helped out at the putting green garden, tidied up the lavender garden at the 16th including replacing some of the lavenders and trimming back the deadwood.

Morning tea of mini sweet cakes was welcome after a cold drizzly morning.  Thanks Chef Brad!

After morning tea the boys dismantled the old timber table outside the club that had reached it's use by date.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
