Golf - Tuesday 5th August 2014

We had a beautiful day to play golf today.  Blue Sky and Sunshine - just as we like it with the course in good condition.  I came in to make up the numbers for a single stroke event and look what happened - I won the day - so it was well worth the effort.

My playing partners were Faye Levenspiel and Lea Southon and they brought me home very well - both of them were on the 12th green for one and both beat the existing A Grade player for nearest the pin, but unfortunately it was only counted for Div 1.  Lea was close to being in Eagles Nest territory currently worth 60 odd balls.

The Golf Event of the day was a Ladies Single Stroke - 6th Round of the WGNSW Medal and Club Medal.

We had 45 starters.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  Chris Dekker had a birdie on the 6th; Sandy Laybutt had two pars; Lea Southon was on the 12th for one; Faye Levenspiel was on the 12th for one; my highlight was winning the day and the Monthly Medal, putting better than normal, parring the 15th and 16th and winning the raffle.

I have had a lost property report - a solid Sterling Silver hinged bracelet has been lost somewhere on the course.  Anyone finding it - or part thereof should it be broken please hand it in to the office regardless of the condition as the bracelet has great sentimental value to its owner.

F-Troop - Monday 4th August 2014

We had a nice crisp morning to start our F-Troop projects this morning.

We had eleven volunteers which was great for a winter's morning.  On hand were Trevor Harrison, Geoff Bridge, Duncan Dyer, Warren Gray, Rob Benson, Peter Martin, Don Nicholls, Anne Burgess, Di Beechey, Carolyn Buttsworth & Jan Martin.

The Tree gang had a big project to start the day which was removing a dangerous pine from the Green Keepers parking area.  The tree was cut down & removed skillfully by our tree gang.  They then went on to do more undercutting jobs around the course.

Warren Gray & Rob Benson did rubbish pick up around the course.

Peter Martin organised the troops, did rubbish pick up, fixed the broken fence at the 18th tee with the help of Don Nicholls.

Geoff Bridge delivered a load of mulch out to the 14th for us before backing up the Tree Gang with timber pickup.

Di Beechey, Carolyn Buttsworth and Anne Burgess cleaned up around the car parks and clubhouse before assisting me with the mulching jobs at the 14th and watering the gardens there.  Anne helped me at the Bush Toilet area to mulch and water the gardens there and clean up. Anne then watered the gardens at the front of the clubhouse while I went on the weed the garden and trim the shrubs at the back of the Men's 5th Tee, pruned the hydrangeas and the Hibiscus in the front garden at the clubhouse as well as watering the gardens at the 1st and 10th, the Wedding Garden pots and behind the putting green.

Morning tea of mini slices were very welcome after a hard morning's work. Thanks Chef Brad!

After morning tea Peter Martin & Trevor Harrison purchased items for next week's F-Troop Project
while I finished the gardens at the front of the clubhouse.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Golf - Sunday 3rd August 2014

Today it was a clear and crisp day for golf with a definite edge of winter on the breeze.  My jumper did not stay off for long.

Our playing partners today were Ray & Carolyn Buttsworth who were great company.  We had some fun out on the village green slipping in some good 3 pointers and we were only one stroke out of the play for the Medley Team Split Sixes.  Ray was our champion with a great 39 points.  The boys beat the girls narrowly for the keno ticket.  My apologies to Ray and Carolyn for accidentally deleting out photo taken at the 1st tee this morning.  In my haste to edit the photos for the blog tonight I hit the delete button one too many times. Sorry! It was a lovely photo too!

The Golf Event of the day was a Medley Team Split Sixes + Single Stableford for Men and Ladies.

We had 71 starters with 1 visitor from Warringah.
