F-Troop - Monday 8th August 2011

F-Troopers had a busy day today taking care of important matters such as removal of a dangerous tree on the 15th, security slabs for garden features at the 1st & 6th as well as general clean up.  It was Vets Day so there were a lot of golfers of the course which restricted a lot of our usual rubbish pickup.

We had Duncan Dyer, George Foster, Des Wilson, Warren Gray, Bruce White, Peter Martin, Ron Beechey, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess & Georgina Lamb.  (I took a sick leave day).

Duncan, George, Des, Warren, Bruce, Peter were on tree duty and there was a lot of timber to take care of - so well done troopers.  That will give us a start for next year's timber supply.

Peter & Ron took care of the concrete security slabs at the 1st and 6th with the help of Di Beechey.

Di, Georgina and Anne did a good clean up around the clubhouse, car park, 1st and 10th tees, wedding garden and putting green.

Morning tea was some delicious fruit pastries - Thanks Chef John!

It is frustrating that we got that heavy rain last night just as the course was starting to dry up.

Golf - Sunday 7th August 2011

Luckily the thunderstorm waited until after golf today and everyone finished up dry. 

I have been struck down with a nasty viral infection so unfortunately could not play.  Our playing partners were Clyde & Lyn Cruickshanks and Helen Stuart kindly filled in for me (Thanks Helen).  On all accounts everyone had a great day with some good highlights. 

The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford + Team Split sixes.

We had 68 starters with 4 visitors from Everglades, Mangrove Mountain and Toukley.

There cannot be too much wrong with the course now as we had some very solid scores coming in today.  We had a nice warm fine day with rain that is going to threaten overnight.  Hopefully not as the course is drying out well.

The Golf Event of the day was a Men's Single Stroke - Monthly Medal.

We had 180 starters with 6 visitors from Everglades, PGA, Toronto, Trundle & Wyong.

Golf - Friday 5th August 2011

It was great to see a Club full of people tonight supporting the Friday Night Raffles and Badge Draw.  This was further supplemented by a Gosford Hospital Social Group night in the Magnolia Room.

The Badge Draw was drawn to Paul Smith (Smiley) Member No 948 who unfortunately was not present to collect the $650 draw.  It will now jackpot to $700 next week and remember that you have to be present in the clubhouse at the time of the draw to win.  If you are never there you will never win.

The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford for Men and Ladies.  There were preferred Lies through the green.

We had 55 starters with 5 visitors from Kurri, Moss Vale, Muirfield, Oberon, The Springs, Trundle & Wyong.

We also had Social Players on the course today swelling the playing numbers to 250 starters for the day which was outstanding.

A REMINDER TO MEMBERS TO PREPARE FOR THE OP SHOP BALL TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER 2011.  Cost of tickets is $35 per person and the rules of the night are: All outfits must cost less than $20.  Prizes for BEST DRESSED.  If you remember last year's Op Shop Ball we had some great outfits and everyone had a wonderful night.  So....it is time to go shopping at the Op shops for that perfect outfit to stun our judges.

Golf - Wednesday 3rd August 2011

While the Men played their Competition at Gosford today some of the Lady golfers went to the Lyric Theatre at Star City to see "Hairspray".   A few nice wines and lunch at Star City seemed appropriate before the show and (eat your hearts out) we rubbed shoulders with "Molly" Meldrum who was kind enough to let us have a photo shoot.  To top off an already good day we really enjoyed "Hairspray" & found it very entertaining. 

The Golf Event of the day was a Men's Single Stableford + Teams Event.

We had 200 starters with 14 visitors from Botany, Everglades, Morisset, Oberon, South West Rocks, Terrigal, The Colonial Qld and Wyong.

Golf - Tuesday 2nd August 2011 - L'Oreal Day

L'Oreal Day is one of our keenly contested days and very popular with our members as our 83 starters indicated.   We had a magic day of warm sunshine and blue sky which was very welcome as the course is still trying to dry out.

It was heavy going at at times on the course but a very enjoyable day in perfect weather.  My playing partners today were Kath Payn and Pam Cowin (no photo today because I forgot to take it).  We had a lot of laughter and even some good highlights during the match which made it a very pleasant day and pity about the golf scores.

The Golf Event of the day was a Ladies Single Stableford and was sponsored by L'OREAL from PHILLIPS PHARMACY.  Christine from Phillips Pharmacy attended our Presentation as a representative of L'Oreal, Phillips Pharmacy who are making available a 20% discount for our Members on L'Oreal Products for the next couple of months.  Please enquire with Christine at Phillips Pharmacy if you would like to take advantage of this offer.
