We had 63 starters with 14 visitors from Emmaville, Everglades, Kooindah Waters, Magenta Shores, Mangrove Mountain, Pymble, Redland Bay Qld, Shelly Beach, Toukley and Trundle.

We had a lovely day for golf today after last night's rain and a beautiful afternoon for a garden wedding.

The Golf Event of the day was a Ladies 3 Ball Ambrose - Closing day.

I am not sure how many starters we had but it was more than 24.

I was sorry that I had to pull out of golf today as I had an important appointment with my eye specialist however I am extra sorry now as my (would have been) team won the day. Well done Helen, Maggie & Nan!

Next Tuesday is our Christmas Party and Presentation Day commencing at 11.15am for drinks and nibbles in the Lounge area, then retire to the Magnolia Room for Presentation and Lunch.

The course has picked up with the recent rain fall however more heat is on the way according to the forecasts.

Golf - Tuesday 27th November 2012

It was great to see some of our members showing some good Christmas spirit wearing traditional Christmas colours to brighten the day.   We had some overnight rain which was made to order and some nice sunshine for golf today.  The gardens and the golfers are happy with that win/win situation.

The Golf Event of the day was a Ladies Team Stableford - Split Sixes.

We had 77 starters with visitors from Terrigal and Western Australia.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  Team of Chris Dekker, Doreen Vines, Nan Richards and Lyn Douglas had three 8 pointers in a row and Lyn had a birdie on the 8th; Rosemary Cohen had four 4 pointers; Carolyn Buttsworth survived the day; Michelle McGrath chipped in for a birdie at the 18th; Helen Potter had birdies at the 9th and the 18th; Wendy Stapleton had a birdie at the 10th; Kay Baillie had 4/4 at the 10th; Shirley Daly had a birdie at the 14th; My team of Shirley Daly, Sharon Anderson & Annie Brink played the 10th hole well.

F-Troop - Monday 26th November 2012

F-Troopers had a very busy day today being down on numbers we had work flat out to get our projects done.

We had Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Martin Gallagher, Garry Trigg, Bruce White, Warren Gray, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, Jan Martin & Anne Burgess to spread the load.

The Tree Gang of Duncan Dyer, Martin Gallagher, Bruce White, Warren Gray & Garry Trigg did a good job of undercutting both sides of the 11th fairway.  After morning tea Duncan & Martin worked on placing the two elkhorns donated by Michael & Pauline Norman on the trees in the garden at the 2nd green. We now have a nice collection of elkhorns at that garden.  Martin then went on to water and fertilize the Golden Penda on the 2nd.

Trevor Harrison & Don Nicholls did a great job of installing the security for the new cart shed and installed some of the hooks to hold the electrical cables for the carts.  This brings us a step closer to having the cart shed up and running.

Anne Burgess cleaned up the BBQ area and back car park and then went on to water gardens at the 14th, 3rd, 5th  Camellias gardens and orchids at the bush toilets, cleaned the bush toilets, watered the new trees that have been planted at the 15th and 17th as well as watering other gardens including the daisies at the 4th tee.

Peter Martin was on rubbish pick up on his own - so I abandoned my gardening plans and helped him to collect rubbish and sticks and rake tees at the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 7th.  There was so much rubbish to pick up that the gardens and tees were given a lick and a promise.  I had started cleaning up at the 1st and 10th tees and got the gardens there watered.   After morning tea we gave the Tibouchinas at the 2nd fairway a good soaking and also the Golden Penda and some of the Crepe Myrtles.  We also watered the garden at the 2nd green and gave the elkhorns a good shower.

We all enjoyed our morning tea of fruit pastries. Thanks Chef John!

With all the hot weather we have had getting water to the gardens is going to be a worry as there is more hot weather to come.  Some nice soaking rain in non-golfing hours would be wonderful.  Our water storage is limited so we need to get our dams full again.

Golf - Sunday 25th November 2012

Today was the 60TH NAGGERS CUP  to be played at Gosford Golf Club which is a wonderful achievement.  This Event is sponsored by the Pro Shop who donate all the trophies for this event.

This is one of the most popular events of the year made even more popular this year by the pre match breakfast which was sponsored by Ron & Lynn Puiatti.  The $5 breakfast entry fee collected from the members who attended was donated to our young Professional Tom Ballard to assist him with his Professional Touring costs next year.

The Breakfast was held in the Magnolia Room and 70 odd members enjoyed champagne, orange juice, sausages, bacon, beans, scrambled eggs, bread, butter, tea and coffee.  A great start to the day.  Many thanks to Ron & Lynn for their very generous donation to the Members and to the Members that supported the breakfast showing great club spirit.

The Golf Event of the day was an American Foursomes - Mixed - 60th Naggers Cup.

We had 140 starters.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  Sandy & Peter Laybutt were both on the green at the 5th and Sandy won the nearest the pin; Rhonda Robertson was on the green at the 12th and Rae Brown (her playing partner) put her drive 1cm better and won nearest the pin; Graham Brown had enough by the 11th hole and lay down on the grass only to find he had found a spot that had been pre-loved by a duck; Leanne Binns felt the need for a scenic tour during her match; Helen & Keith Potter combined well during their match; Michelle McGrath had a birdie at the 16th; Maggie Minjoy sank some good long putts; John Hazzard just reached the Ladies Tee on the 6th; John & Julie Hazzard both hit their drives on the 2nd past the trees and then hit both of the second shots into the dam, they started with a par and finished with a par; Graeme Wright & Julie had 2 birdies; Di & Steve Thomlinson had 3 birdies; David & Kath Small had birdies at the 2nd and the 16th however Kath survived the day after attending her school 40 year re-union (year of 72) the night before; Kirsty McDougall hit over the dam on the 3rd at her first game of golf ever; Col & Lauren Matterson had a birdie at the 16th after having a dummy spit at the 1st and finished with a great score to win the day; Frank Potter and his sister Jackie had three birdies; the Bournes were still speaking at the end of the day; The Johnstons had nothing worse that a 7; Jan Van Den Berg had a 12 metre putt; Mary Beard & Terry Bowditch had a birdie on the 5th; Dick & Joyce Bosley had a birdie on the 18th; Sam Knox on the 15th put his drive out onto the 13th fairway, Di Beechey chipped it back over the water and they made a par; Anne Forrester & Brent Frewin had a birdie on the 4th; Doug & Robin Incoll had a birdie on the 6th and a par on the 18th; John Slight finished with the same ball he started with; Col Kelly & Alice Diamond had a gobbler birdie on the 2nd; Garry & Doreen Trigg had nice pars on the 8th and the 16th; my highlight was driving the green on the 5th and the 8th holes and having a good chip in on the 4th.
