Masters Pennant’s Results - Sunday 6th June 2021

 

We travelled to Nelson Bay this week for a rematch and the weather was fine and the course was in fantastic order and we were still able to have a preferred lie on the fairways. We had a late withdrawal due to illness and were only able to field seven starters.

 

We were well in contention after nine holes but the back nine was very difficult and experience on the course was a real advantage. We struggled late and suffered an 8 nil defeat but our hosts were a great bunch of blokes and we had a fantastic day.

 

Next week we play Everglades at Everglades and I’m sure with Billy leading the way we can cause an upset

Action stations on the gardens at the 1st and 10th tees

Trimming of the tibouchina bushes, weeding, raking up rubbish,

Removal of rubbish, cleaning the paths and mulching the garden.

We had a beautiful sunny day for our F-Troop projects.

13 volunteers were very welcome as we had a lot of work on our hands.

On hand we had Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Sam Knox, Kevin O’Brien, Geoff Hulls, Rob Benson, Les Wielinga, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, John Hollebon, Ron Gowing, Di Beechey and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today were Tree maintenance, Rubbish and Loose Timber pick up around the course, firewood delivery, hedge maintenance, path maintenance, trimming of the tibouchina plants at the 1st and 10th tees, weed removal and rubbish removal and mulching of the garden, cleanup underneath the clubhouse, cleaning the paths on the 1st and 10th tees, wedding garden and practice nets. 

Our morning tea in the sunshine was very welcome.

Our playing partners today in the 2021 Mixed Foursomes Championship

What a great day we had on the Village Green for the playing of the 2021 Mixed Foursomes Championships. Blue sky and sunshine welcomed us all day.

Our playing partners were Ray and Carolyn Buttsworth and Wally and Rhonda Robertson who were great company for this traditional “Fearsomes Championships” where it is always best not to take the golf all too seriously. We had an enjoyable day even though the golf was a bit of a worry at times. We did have some good highlights including some good pars - my best highlight was getting out of every bunker in one (after you-know-who put me there). 

The Golf Event of the day was the 2021 Mixed Foursomes Championships played over 18 holes.

We had 72 starters.
