F-Troop - Monday 14th December 2015

F-Troop Morning Tea - Di Beechey, Don Nicholls, Geoff Bridge, Peter Martin, Graeme Kingsmill, John Hollebon, Warren Gray, Rob Benson, Duncan Dyer, Jan Martin, Carolyn Buttsworth, Paul Scholberg, Trevor Harrison and Kevin O'Brien.

Hedges trimmed at the 1st and 10th tee by F-Trooper John Hollebon

Native Gardens at the 6th Tee trimmed and weeded

Agapanthus around the course adding interesting colour over the Christmas period.

We had a big day at F-Troop today with many projects to be done to try and keep the course looking its best over the holiday period.

Volunteers on hand were Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Geoff Bridge, Kevin O'Brien, Warren Gray, Rob Benson, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, John Hollebon, Di Beechey, Carolyn Buttsworth and Jan Martin.

The Tree Gang of Duncan, Trevor, Geoff and Kevin were able to remove a dangerous branch from a tree on the 9th and continue on with undercutting around the course.

Rob and a Warren did a great job of rubbish and loose timber pick up around the course.

Peter and Don installed new toilet cisterns in the Men's locker Room and took care of in- house maintenance jobs

John Hollebon did a fabulous job of trimming the hedges at the 1st and 10th tees so it will all be tidy for the Christmas period.

Di and Carolyn tidied up the BBQ area and underneath the clubhouse, bought more hedge plants for the 4th tee to replace those shrubs that were lost in the heat, added some more plants to the gardens including tibouchinas in the wedding Gaden.

The first thing that went wrong with my day was a flat tyre on our F-Troop cart which the boys fixed after morning tea with a spare tyre that was luckily found to be on hand. My jobs today included cleaning the bush toilets and watering the gardens there, tidied up the tranquility garden on the 6th, trimmed the shrubs and weeded at the native garden at the 6th tee, watered the pots in the gazebo, watered the gardens at the 1st and 10th tee and checked the water feature.

We were well and truly ready for 10.30 morning tea which was most appreciated - Thanks Barto!

It is bark falling time which makes it difficult to keep the course tidy especially at the 1st and 10th tees where it rains leaves, sticks and bark from the trees there constantly.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

There was a much, much later function - test tasting the Martin's home made Bailey's with coffee and chocolate which unfortunately ( or fortunately) did not get recorded.

We had a very enjoyable day on the Village Green today with Garry and Helen Smith which was highlighted by a fantastic after golf BBQ in the club BBQ area where we self catered for ourselves and others that normally frequent the a Gosford Hotel on Sunday a Nights.  We had a dozen or so of us that enjoyed a balmy evening and a social chatter - enjoying our own club's facilities.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: I am sorry that I did not get around all the tables tonight to gather all the highlights of the day - however there were some great highlights that have come to hand one of which was having 100 starters in the Mixed a Gala Day and seeing so many Christmas Shirts out on the course to add atmosphere to the day; Cheryl Davison had 3 X 4 pointers including a chip in on the 5th from the mounds, putted in a 20 foot putt at the 16th and had 4/4 on the 7th; Chris Dekker had 2/4 at the 12th; Lorraine Bignall parred all of the par 5's; Kerry Williams played an exceptional game to get 44 points after 3 wipes; I did witness a good trick shot by Terry Coyle at the 16th for his second shot into the green that hit a tree on the left hand side of the fairway and spun out onto the green putting distance from the pin;  my highlight was finishing with the first ball I started with, getting 20 points on the front 9, and enjoying good company during and after golf.

A NOTE TO MEMBERS:  Don't forget the Children's Christmas Party next Friday Night (starting about 5.00pm) with Santa visiting before raffles begin- bring along your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to enjoy a "catering for children" evening with Santa Claus making a visit, Entertainment,  balloons and gifts for the children.  And of course you can stay on for Raffles and the Member Badge Draw which is now a very substantial amount well worth winning to get you through the Christmas cash drain.
