A start made on cleaning up at the back of the clubhouse
By F-Trooper Kevin O'Brien

We had a very busy day at F-Troop today.  The course is drying up but we focused our projects today
That did not require to much action on the soft course.  In addition to that there was a shotgun start social group which kept the course busy.

We had twelve volunteers which allowed us to get some good projects done.  We had Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Don Nicholls, Geoff Bridge, Rob Benson, Peter Martin, Kevin O'Brien, Garry Trigg, John Hollebon, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.

The tree gang of Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Garry Trigg, Kevin O'Brien and Geoff Bridge removed a large broken branch in the wedding garden, replaced a fallen stag horn, cut up and removed other fallen trees and branches and tidied up along the front fence.

Rob Benson and Don Nicholls took care of tidying up the Putting Green hedges and gutters.  Rob  also repaired a broken stair at the back of the clubhouse.

John Hollebon did a great job trimming the hedges at the 1st and 10th Tees and tidying up the Camellia's in the Wedding Garden.

Peter Martin did rubbish pick up and installed a new "tea pot" planter at the Ladies Garden at the 13th Tee.

Di Beechey and Anne Burgess cleaned up the car park, the BBQ area and under the clubhouse, did some more work in the Wedding Garden placing artificial grass under the seats as well as raking and tidying up the area at the wedding garden and the 1st and 10th tees.

I cleaned up at the bush toilets, the 6th tranquility garden, the Ladies 3rd tee, weeded and tidied up at the putting green, trimmed the Tibouchinas, dead headed the roses and picked up loose timber.

We really enjoyed our morning tea of freshly baked scones, jam and cream - Thank you Chef Ranga!

After morning tea Peter and Trevor delivered some firewood and Kevin raked up at the back of the clubhouse.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

We had a rain free day today which was very welcomed by the Members even though carts were not allowed on the course we still had a good turn up for the competition.

Unfortunately we had to stand up our golfing partners Steve and Annette Cross because we could not take our cart out on the course but we did make up on a social basis at the Gosford Hotel for dinner after golf. Steve and Annette still got a game playing with Kevin O'Brien and Lorraine Bignall.

The Wedding Vows in the Wedding Garden

Thankfully we did not have any rain for today's golf and Wedding.  I understand that the course was still very wet from yesterday's rain.  The sunshine came out on cue for the wedding and the Wedding Garden looked beautiful.  It certainly looked better than it did a couple of weeks ago with a tree fallen right across the garden.

The Golf Event of the day was a Men's Single Stableford + 2 Ball Team.

We had 89 starters with visitors from Everglades, Mangrove Mountain and Wakehurst- a downturn in players due to the cancellation of the Matchplay games and no carts being allowed on the course.

Golf - Friday 22nd May 2015

Golf was a washout today with no players putting in cards after some very heavy rain during the morning and afternoon.

I understand we got at least one inch of water if not more and that was just during the day which at one stage caused flooding across the 10th, 11th and 12th fairways.

The Matchplay for tomorrow has been cancelled due to no carts being allowed on the course.

The daily Event will go ahead tomorrow - but no carts will be allowed onto the course.

Next Friday Night is Trivia Night which is always a popular night at the club.  Remember to book in your tables at the office so we have a good idea of the numbers attending and the correct number of tables can be set up.

Golf - Thursday 21st May 2015

Gosford Lady Golfers participated in Wyong's Pink Ladies Charity Day to raise money to benefit cancer patients.  I understand that $1,300 odd dollars was raised today for this good cause.

We had a beautiful weather day to enjoy the Wyong Course which has suffered the same rain damage as we had.  The course was playable but still very wet in places.
