F-Troop Monday 21st May 2012

We only had a small crew on hand today to take care of two large projects set down for today.

We had Trevor Harrison, Garry Trigg, Peter Martin, Duncan Dyer, Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Rob Benson, Di Beechey & Jan Martin.

It was all hands on deck for the boys to work at the back of the clubhouse removing the tree stumps from last week's tree removal and to erect a safety fence along the driveway. The boys did a great job and the area is now ready for the addition of some garden plants.

Peter Martin acted as supervisor all day checking that all the troopers had tools and materials to complete the job and in addition to that he picked up rubbish from around the course, delivered a supply of 70 Agavi plants to the 2nd green area; set up a watering system to enable Di & I to get the new plants watered in.

Di Beechey and I had the mammoth task of planting out 70 Agavi plants donated to us by Mrs Peter Reynolds,  in addition to at least another 50 succulent plants that were donated to us by Ron Gowing.
These plants all went into the 3rd ladies tee garden or at the 2nd green area along the fenceline where they will look fantastic when they have had time to mature.  All of this area at the second and 3rd have been completed with 100% donated plants costing the club absolutely nothing and the improvement is outstanding.

Morning tea was well and truly earned by the troopers who worked hard all morning and we all appreciated the fruit pastries from Chef John.  Thanks John!

We did not appreciate the loss of some of our hose fittings this week from the first tee garden.  Troopers take the time to water the gardens through the week and it is very disappointing to find there are still some low life helping themselves to items from the course such as the plastic hose fittings which are not high cost but add up over a period of time and it is usually the F-Troopers who dip into their own pockets to supply these type of items.

My thanks to Lyn Bates for her assistance with the donation of the Agavi Plants - and there are still more to come on Thursday and these will be planted at the back of the clubhouse where the troopers were working today. My thanks and appreciation to Ron Gowing for his continuous support by donating some great succulent plants for our gardens.

Members would have noticed through the week that the lavender garden at the 16th has been raised and has got new soil which will assist with better drainage of this garden and we are looking forward to a full garden of lavenders shortly.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

What good luck we had with the weather today.  The predicted showers did not eventuate and we had good weather all day if a little chilly when the sun went under cloud.

Our playing partners today were my brother Graham and my lovely sister-in-law Anne and we had a great day out on the course with some good highlights including a 3 pointer on the 18th from Anne and a gobbler par on the 10th from me which made our day.
