Golf - Sunday 22nd April 2012

We had an excellent day for golf with the wet weather holding off until we had all finished.  Earlier in the day it was very hot and humid but afternoon cloud cover made it very pleasant to be out on the course.

Our playing partners were Peter & Sandy Laybutt who were great company.  We had a good fun day with a lot of close should have/could have & would have shots and still came in with a team score of a very respectable 90 points.  Peter Martin was the star scoring 42 points and winning the singles event of the day.

The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford for Men and Ladies + Team Stableford 1 X 2 X 3 - each team must have one lady.

We had 73 starters with 2 visitors from Taree and Terrigal.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  Lynn Puiatti had 39 points & no wipes; Anne Forrester had 4/4 on the 9th; Tania Burt had two 4 pointers; Kevin O'Brien had a birdie at the 17th;
Dick Bosley had 4/4 on the 13th; Clyde Cruickshanks had birdies at the 12th, 15th and 18th holes; Julie Hazzard had a 4 pointer at the 15th; Lyn Cruickshanks had a 3 pointer on the 5th; Peter Martin had a nice 42 points in spite of a self inflicted handicap; Sandy Laybutt had 3 pointers at the 2nd, 3rd and 4th holes; my highlight was having the longest drive on the 9th ( after 3 putting the 8th) & then scoring a one putt 3 pointer to finish the match on the 9th.

Today was Louise Stimpson's birthday and we celebrated that in style (photos attached)

Golf - Saturday 21st April 2012

We had a most beautiful day for Golf and Weddings.  Blue sky and sunshine to order.

The Wedding Garden was looking magnificent with the camellias, gardenias & tibouchinas all flowering on cue.   We had two weddings, the first at 2.30 pm with a reception in the Magnolia Room and the second at 3.30 pm with a reception in the Sunset Room.

The Golf Event of the day was a Men's Single Stableford + 2 Ball Team.

We had 187 starters with 4 visitors from Riverside Oaks, Roseville, Royal Australian Engineers & Ryde-Parramatta.

The weather was much kinder to us today showering us with sunshine at last.

The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford for Men and Ladies.

We had 63 starters with 7 visitors from Muirfield, Pennant Hills, Shellharbour Links, Singleton, The Lakes, Trundle and Wyong

Golf -Thursday 19th April 2012

There were no takers for the Ladies competition today. The weather forecast would have put a lot of people off and the course was very wet underfoot. It was not all doom and gloom this morning with some blue sky and sunshine however the showers returned this afternoon.with possible showers forecast for tomorrow. With luck we will have enough good weather to get a competition played.

Golf - Wednesday 17th April 2012

We have had water,water everywhere with all the fairways awash.

The above photo shows the 5th fairway after the rain had time to run off following the heavier showers.

I believe that the 9th fairway was under water at one stage.

My Iphone tells me that we have had 91.4mm of rain since 9.00am this morning so it is not surprising that there was no golf today.

Tomorrow's forecast is windy with rain.  Not happy Jan!

Golf - Tuesday 17th April 2012

The predicted rain for Tuesday fell on cue.  It has been raining on and off for most of the day.

The Golf Event of the day was a Ladies Single Stroke - 2nd GNSW & Club Medal.

We had 22 starters.

Super Seniors Pennants Results - Monday 16th April 2012

Gosford Super Seniors Pennant side suffered it's first defeat today at the hand of Shelley Beach in a very, very close series of matches.

Gosford went down 3.25 to Shelley Beach 4.25 at Magenta.

We had two wins and three halved matches.

The loss will greatly reduce our chances of making the playoffs, as Wyong played Toukley today and will play Magenta next week. Gosford will play Everglades in the final and 6th round next week at Toukley at 10.45 am.
At this stage Wyong are favourites to win Division 5..... but let us just wait until it is all played out for the final result.
